"Very responsive to inquiry. Flexible scheduling. Excellent equipment. We ran out of crushed rock and owner used own trailer to secure more material since other suppliers were booked. He spread that rock With great skill in tight area."

"When I called Smaller Deliveries, they were very helpful in helping me decide upon the best product and estimate of the appropriate quantity of gravel to repair my driveway.  The drive arrived on time and helped me spread the gravel by slowly dumping it as he drove forward, and then by helping me rake it into place.  This was very helpful, as I was all by myself on this project.  He also helped me plan for a couple of future loads of soil that I will need on a lawn care project.  I will definitely use Smaller Deliveries again!"

"My driveway concrete aggregate was flaking off badly. What should I do: resurface, new concrete, pavers? I looked at all options and decided on pavers. Not much more expensive than a concrete repour, pavers would definitely be an upgrade from the aggregate driveway. July 2019 I hired CD Pavers to replace my driveway. It required only 3 days. CD Pavers representative explained both the process and the product employed in my project with actual samples, pictures and brochures. I made an unannounced visit to a large paving project in Shoreline and visited with the workers at the site. I shook hands and took a couple of cellphone photos. That’s when I decided this was my company. The pleasant surprise was how affordable the project would be compared to estimates I received from other companies. And, they had a nontransferable lifetime guarantee of their work. I also opted for the sealant spray of the new pavers and existing aggregate concrete surfaces. What I liked about CD Pavers: 1. PREP for job: Complete explanation of the scope of work and materials to be used was provided before contract signed. The contractor obtained underground utility mapping to protect lines running under and near the driveway. 2. DEMOLITION: The old driveway was removed, and construction debris hauled off on first day. Safety markings were placed at the sidewalk. 3. PAVER INSTALL: ground leveled, plastic ground cover followed by pea gravel and sand; compaction equipment used on those layers. Pavers placed in one day including sand “grout” vibrated into the gaps between pavers. Mindful of off driveway water drainage. 4. ADDED TOUCH: graciously placed a boarder along entry walkway at no additional charge. 5. HOMEOWNER CARE: Protected driveway apron, roadway asphalt, sidewalk from damage and soilage by construction equipment. Replaced a sprinkler head accidently broken during paver work. Cleanup complete and unused paver product stacked neatly in side-yard for the homeowner. Carey, the owner of CD Pavers visited the project site and inquired how everything was going with the project. He wanted to make sure I was happy with all aspects of the work to date, and wanted to hear if I had any concerns. Would I employ CD pavers for more paver projects at my home? Absolutely yes. I was impressed by the quality of the work, concern and respectful interaction with the homeowner, and affordability of the job. They do excellent work."

"We checked around a few granite businesses that were vague on pricing or did not respond to questions. We went into Pro Granite and immediately appreciated the customer service and well organized showroom. Anna was very helpful showing us around and upfront about pricing, she even gave us a printout of our project with the costs of different pieces of granite. Very reasonably priced! Less than the big box stores. We decided on one kind and they pulled out those slabs for us to select the exact one we wanted. Excellent communication and punctuality from the templating appointment to the installation, always arriving about 5 minutes early in fact. Vinnie and Ivan did a meticulous job, their dedication to their craft shows through in the finished project. Recommend 100%."

"The professionalism started with the phone call and carried through until the job was completed. Mark and his team was on time, polite and left the site spotless when they were complete. He was able to work around EXISTING/MATURE landscaping and provide knowledge on lighting for my She Shed. I would highly recommend Full Throttle to anyone looking for a professional. Mark will be installing my water gardens next spring!"

"Bob was able to fit my one day job in between other jobs he had, and did what I could not have. Clean cut lines and a lot of dirt moved, in less than 8 hours. The work he did was very helpful to the end results of not only the project I am currently working on (to expand my current driveway), but also another project that I have planned for the future (to reduce the steep grade of the rest of the back yard)."

"Jim's?and his crew including the site manger, Wilmer,?transformed our backyard from an expanse of ugly blacktop installed by the previous owner to a visually appealing and well?designed yard and garden. All components integrated well including a new concrete driveway to maintain access to the garage, an enhanced and reconfigured rockery, a larger?lawn and reconfigured access steps through the rockery and a water feature. Plantings were also included in the contract and we enjoyed working with Leanne who advises and oversees the?horticultural side. Jim has a large?experience base and was able to provide us with solid advise regarding our ideas and?vision for the final look.?He also?provided numerous references for us to review the projects he has completed. The work was started and completed within the expected time-frame and Wilmer and his crew were diligent in causing as little disruption as possible. They were very responsive to any of our concerns and Wilmer went out of his way to ensure the project went as smoothly as possible. Since this was the first time we had undertaken a large landscaping job we were not as precise as perhaps we should have been regarding certain aspects of the work. For example our vision of the rockery steps to the lawn turned out to be different from that initially installed by Jim and his crew and it had to be re-done. In such instances my recommendation would be on the blueprint to carefully define the?rock to be used, each step size, the number of steps and the riser height etc. so there are no misunderstandings. Having said that Jim and Wilmer quickly?rectified matters and?the steps are now both practical and appealing.? Overall we are very happy with the work that was done and are?thoroughly enjoying our transformed backyard."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Kent, WA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
