"Very professional outfit from beginning to end. We're very happy with the new driveway, they did a great job. Neighbors are envious. They made sure the driveway had a solid stone foundation before laying new asphalt. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone."

"Very courteous, professional young man. Very reliable and dependable, something one would not expect from the younger generation. My wife and I have been very impressed and fell very blessed to have this individual and his crew doing work on our property. Our neighbors compliment their work extensively. I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone wanting from the smallest job to the largest job. Chase is the mans name who runs the business, and him and his team are very hard workers, no slacking or milking the clock. They work from the time they arrive until the job is complete. Very impressed. Almost want to hog him and his crew to ourselves, but I guess we won't do that. LOL <br />"

"He did a wonderful job worked a day and half was friendly and cleaned up after he was done.  You would not know he had been here other than to see the places he repaired that brick were coming loose.  The work went well and the places he repaired look great you would never know it had been repaired. I recommend him highly."

"This company was great, start to finish. When I first asked for an estimate, Doug came out immediately, was polite and professional, made the estimate, explained what I did not understand and applied no pressure. I called back four moths later and asked him to come again and explain a few more things - he was there the next day, happily remeasured (he was right the first time) and worked out more details with me. Part of the job was mine and part was for a shared driveway. He worked with me very professionally to do the jobs on separate contracts and scheduled them back to back to minimize the time we would not have access. His crew is professional, very polite, efficient, and left the work area clean - not a tin can or cigarette butt to be found. Doug and the foreman Nick checked in with me frequently, problem solved my water flow issues, and left a gorgeous new driveway. The price was very reasonable and the job was well worth it. Doug is clearly a scrupulous guy, and Nick leads a very positive, skilled team."

"After the initial call and estimate it took 14 days before they came to the house. We had an electric gate opener repaired (which has gone out since they repaired it) and plumbing work, which also needed repaired in a few weeks by another plumber."

"Vernon was quick to respond to my request for an estimate, gave me the date he could start and an estimate on how long it would take. The price was fair. He arrived at exactly the time he said he would to begin work. He called me when he discovered the termite damage and gave me options for resolution and an update on his new estimate. He removed the old garage door, replaced the rotted door frame, replaced termite damaged 2x4s, removed and replaced sheet rock and repainted. He suggested a vinyl replacement for the door frame which I am glad he did. It looks fantastic and doesn't have to be painted. Extra time was needed for the additional work because of the termite damage. He returned two days later to complete the job. He asked for no money up front. He was extremely professional. His workmanship was top quality and I will not hesitate to use him again for any job around the house."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Kingsport, TN

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
