"Mike Allen's remodeling teams’ services are nothing short of amazing! From the initial consultation to the completion of the project, every step of the process was handled with utmost professionalism, skill, and attention to detail. What sets Mike apart is his commitment to excellence. When I approached him with a ceiling repair project, he not only provided a thorough assessment but also took the time to explain the entire process. His knowledge and expertise instilled confidence, making me feel comfortable and assured that my home was in capable hands. The actual remodeling work exceeded my expectations. Mike's team worked efficiently and meticulously, ensuring that every aspect of the ceiling repair was addressed with precision. The end result was not just a fixed ceiling but a transformed space that looked even better than before. Communication throughout the project was outstanding. Mike kept me informed of the progress, and any unexpected issues were promptly addressed with viable solutions. The transparency and open communication added a level of trust that is often rare in the construction industry."

"Since Renovations purchases all the materials, it's impossible to determine the actual cost of the materials and labor.  I assume they did their best to control costs, but would have preferred to see the budgeted line items.  Some of the documentation that accompanied the materials (installation instructions, warranty, care & cleaning instructions) was not provided to us. We should have thought to request all the material before the construction began. <br /> Renovations took the time to understand our desires and requirements.  They included us when making all the design decisions and kept us informed of their progress.   Mike Gringas meticulously planned the details and coordinated the efforts of all of the subcontractors, while dealing with the unexpected issues that arose.  If Mike was not happy with the outcome ? it was done over to his satisfaction. This led to a delay in the schedule, but was well worth it.  The remodeled bathroom exceeded our expectations - thanks to Mike and his highly skilled team's diligent efforts. <br /> All of the employees and contractors were professional, punctual, and courteous.  We felt quite comfortable leaving them to work alone in our house when we had other commitments. The work and surrounding areas were kept clean and uncluttered.  No detail was overlooked, including professionally cleaning both the remodeled bathroom and nearby bedroom, raking the landscape rocks in our yard, and changing the air filter in the bedroom when the job was completed.  Shawn Vacca and his team at Mile High Tile did a superb job laying the tile.  Sean meticulously designed and aligned the diamond-shaped tile patterns, willingly cutting tiny pieces when necessary to ensure the proper placement of each and every tile.  <br /> Renovations and the great team they assembled did a fantastic job making my dream bathroom a reality and I would highly recommend them if you are considering remodeling! <br />"

"It’s the most incredible porch ever. Perfect in every way! Fergal has a real talent for building and a great eye for design. People walk by every day and tell us how beautiful our porch looks. Also he did a major remodel of our bathroom 5 years ago, it’s still the most loved room in our house :)"

"It is wonderful. I am very happy with them. They messed up on appointments. I sat here all morning waiting for them to come. I called them. They said that had goofed up and that they weren't even scheduling us that day. I jumped up and down, yelled and screamed a lot and got them to come out. We are planning on using them again in the future."

"This project ran smoothly from beginning to end. Each day, Brian and Jason explained what they were going to do and before they left, they explained what they were going do the next day. A template was done for the bartop before it was removed. It took more time to do it this way but we were assured the new top would fit perfectly and it did. Everything in the room was covered to protect it from the dust. After the countertop was removed, the outlets had to be moved and they are qualified electricians. The flooring had to be removed in kitchen and living areas. It was a creaky floor and they assured us it wouldn’t creak anymore. There were some damp spots underneath the old flooring in the kitchen and I was called to let me know before they went any further to see what I wanted to do about the dampness. The flooring is in and there is no more creaking! 2,000 screws took care of that! The new baseboard is beautiful. It has been caulked and the nail holes filled in. The mitered cuts they made for each angle took extra time and it is perfection. Onto the newly framed, angled wall where the new fireplace was installed and they had to frame around the exhaust system to satisfy code regulation. I ordered a mantle online and the workmanship was so poor that I called them to pick it up. A mantle was special ordered by the contractor and he picked it up in Phoenix. It is a beautiful mantle and is exactly what we wanted. The stacked stone was laid which has to be exact from the beginning. Painstaking work all the way through because the stone is natural and not perfect. It is a beautiful wall now and they hung the mantle and the Samsung TV. Brian connected all the electronics to the TV. They are so knowledgeable about all facets of remodelling. No sub contractors are necessary. Every day before they left, they would spend the needed time to clean up and put their tools away. They are organised and professional and no one could have been easier to work with. Their work is meticulous and we will recommend them to all of our friends. Thank you, Brian and Jason!"

"Craftsmanship was superb! Supt. sometimes was a little lackadaisical as far as promptness, but overall we were extremely happy with the finished work. The journeyman doing the work was an elderly gentleman who was sprier than most men twenty years his younger and was a truly hard worker. I will use them again for all my future work!"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Kirkland, AZ

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
