"It took them about three months to do the job. We really like the owner. He visited about four or five times before we started the project. He helped with the design work and picking out the pavers. He was there pretty much the whole time. He would stop by at least once a week. We had some other work being done at the same time, and he was good with working on the timing with the other crew."

"We are very pleased with our experience with Earthscapes. Todd (owner) came out to inspect area and quickly sent a proposal to us. He also sent pictures of what our completed landscape would look like. The irrigation and landscaping was installed over three days. Todd came back to make sure everything was done properly and to confirm we were happy with the work."

"They did an outstanding job in one of the rooms, where they spent extra time making sure to get a few spots out. The two other rooms were average, as numerous spots remained. Surprisingly, I don't recall their mentioning their inability to get the spots out when the left my house. Also, they were supposed to clean the carpet in a short hallway, but it was obviously not cleaned at all. <br /> Of note, it appears they do not vacuum before they clean the carpets. So, where I had any pieces of solid material on the carpet (think stray popcorn kernels and the like), it remained when they left (though it was pushed to the edges). <br /> I guess I expected more: <br /> 1. A thorough vacuuming first so the full floor of the room was clean <br /> 2. Spot removal in all rooms, or comments about where/why they were unable to remove spots <br /> 3. Consistent performance from one room to the next. It seemed they were focused on making the "nicest"/"most important" room look good, but didn't care as much about the rooms that are less high profile in the house. <br /> If you hire them, my recommendations: <br /> 1. Be sure to walk through and discuss your needs before, and walkthrough with them after as well to ensure satisfaction <br /> 2. They obviously take pride in their work and were extremely professional and efficient. As long as you are able to establish clear expectations up front, I believe you won't be disappointed. <br />"

"These guys are sticklers for doing the job right. Matt gave me an estimate on removing the affected concrete. When that was removed they realized that the remaining concrete was too thin and a larger section needed to be replaced. I believe he tried to keep the additional cost as low as possible. Matt also noticed a place where my deck sagged, and offered a good price to repair it. It looks great. They found too much gravel under the original concrete, unevenly spread. They took some of the rock and spread it over my driveway. The whole job took several days, time for concrete to set and then for sealer to dry. They were very polite and professional, and willing to explain to me what needed to be done, and offered me options for how it would be done. I plan to use B and B for my next job."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in La Vergne, TN

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
