"I hired Exterior Medics in October 2025 to replace a small six-step staircase. I was quoted nearly $13,000 and told permitting would take 3?4 weeks. I paid a 50% deposit via ACH (a mistake, since I wouldn't be able to later dispute the payment through a credit card issuer). Six months later, there is still no permit, no work, and no refund. After months of delays, I was told the permit had initially been filed with the wrong jurisdiction. Since then, I?ve received repeated assurances, flowcharts explaining the process, and promises that someone would follow up?none of which led to progress. When I requested my $6,443 deposit back, I was told my request had been ?escalated.? No one ever followed up. At this point, six months after paying 50% upfront, I have no staircase and no clear path to getting my money back."

With the dumpster in our yard, and the roofing materials delivered only then did they "discover" we also needed all new planking. We were prepared and budgeted for a $21,300 project. Suddenly we needed to come up with an additional $8,500 for the plywood. This was part of all the other roofer's quotes. When I voiced that I wanted to use another company they told me I signed a contract and they planned to enforce it. If I broke the contract I would have to give them 1/3. I had no choice but to cave.
