"Kevin , our electrician was efficient and very pleasant completing our project. We were given an estimate a week ago, completed job promptly, and beat the price from the estimate. I would be glad to refer him for further electrical work. The job was explained to us and we had a complete electrical panel with breakers replaced and each breaker was labeled with function for ease of knowing what appliance / service was associated with each switch. Thank you Jim and Liz"

"Excellent EV Charger Installation I had an EV charger installed at my home, and I’m very happy with the work. The electrician was professional, knowledgeable, and completed the installation safely and efficiently. All connections were done properly, the work area was kept clean, and everything was clearly explained to me before and after the job. The charger works perfectly, and the installation meets all electrical code requirements. I would highly recommend this contractor to anyone needing EV charger installation or other electrical work."

"On the first job Jake and Justin installed a new 50 amp sub panel in our garage then ran new feed underground. They went over and above our expectations to complete the job. They were professional, courteous and knowledgeable. It was extremely hot that day and we know the conditions couldn't have been worse to do this job. Needless to say they got our electric back up and running in the garage/work room. We were so pleased we hired Cousino Electric again to install new light sockets and plugs in our garage. Andy and Jay also were very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. Both crews cleaned up after themselves (a very big plus in my opinion) and explained what they had done when they were completed with the job. From the original call to the end of the job we couldn't be happier. The telephone was answered and an appointment was immediately set up! Thanks Cousino Electric - we will refer you to our friends and family!"

"Chris iss reliable and he was on-time both days...he even called me when he was leaving his last appt and heading my way. He came prepared to get the job done and he did! He installed 16 new lights and 4 ceiling fans, replaced 58 old switches and outlets and re-wired a single pole for a 3-way switch for my outside lights...in less than a day and a half. He was a pleasure to have in my house doing the work. His prices were reasonable for all the work he did. I highly recommend him."

I am a retired contractor from the Midwest. Dee and I supplement our income with handyman work. We have hundreds of references for all sorts of projects, (as listed). The cost of operating a vehicle forces us to charge a trip charge if we are asked to travel out of the Golden Valley area. That charge varies according to distance but starts at $35.00 for more that 25 miles. All of our work is guaranteed. Parts are subject to the manufacturer's warranties.

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Lambertville, MI

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
