"After we spent fruitless days of calling local appliance-repair shops on line and being told that the job--repairing the burned-out electrical connection on a 1950s-era Ironrite ironing machine [AKA a mangle]--was just too strange and the machine too ancient to bother with--Angie's List promised to refer our job to A-OK Mechanical. They called and made an appointment. The technician, Jerry, arrived within the promised time-frame. He took one look at the job everyone deemed too weird to bother with, immediately went to work and fixed it within an hour. We couldn't be more pleased--especially in view of my wife's fear that she might have to sacrifice the services of her favorite household tool. Thank you and thanks to Jerry and A-OK Mechanical."

"Dave is extremely meticulous, reliable and respectful of peopleâ s homes. He always removed his shoes at the door, was friendly with our pets and was as unobtrusive as one can be while working in someoneâ s home. His clean up was first rate. He was easy to talk to and took time to ensure that we were on the same page. Dave also installed legs on a new custom-made hardwood desk top and did a terrific job. I highly recommend Dave."

FAQs for appliance (major electric appliance) installation and replacement projects in Lansing, MI

A pro starts by setting the units in place and connecting them to the right plumbing lines, electrical circuits, and, for the dryer, a vent. If the hookups already exist, the job is quick. When they don’t, the installer must add plumbing, outlets, or a vent run, which takes more time and increases the price, especially when the laundry area is located far from existing utilities.

You’ll need the right pros for a tight stacked setup. A natural-gas plumber handles the water lines, drain, and any gas work, while an electrician installs the circuit the dryer needs. If venting or framing changes are required, hire a general contractor to patch the drywall or adjust the framing so that everything meets code and operates safely.

Permanent models need complete plumbing, electrical, and—for dryers—vent hookups. Portable units skip most of that and can run on a standard outlet with a temporary water connection. If your home already has a code-approved hookup, you just connect the new appliances. If not, hire a licensed pro to add the lines and vent so the machines run safely and efficiently.

Relocating a hookup costs between $500 and $5,000, as it may involve installing new outlets, gas lines, vents, and drain pipes. The price increases when the new location is far from existing utilities or requires additional framing and drywall work. Have licensed professionals evaluate your layout, provide a quote for the move, and handle the installation so that every component meets code and works safely.
