"These guys are true professionals. I've used them for several jobs (septic system, clearing, grading, fine grading, resolving my pond, etc.) And they have never disappointed me. They are reasonably priced, show up when they're supposed to and clean up after themselves. Who does that anymore. I strongly recommend them for any of your future projects "

"Price shown above was the first increment for this project. This is the third major project for which I've hired Cowboy Construction. In the past they were a big part of building an addition to my house, and also replacing the entire roof of the older part of the house. For this current project, the personalized service, reliabiliy, work quality, and (this can't be overemphasized) trustworthiness of Travis and Cowboy Construction continue to impress me. I give them my highest recommendation, and I'm not easy to please."

"The experience was good. We called him because some of our trees were not looking so good. He came, looked at them and told us what to do. He said he could do it, but we could certainly buy it cheaper at a local hardware store on our own and do it ourselves. The trees were lacking iron and acidity, I think. He did not charge us for diagnosing our problem."

"Initial contact was great with Chuck and Luke.  Great stories and pictures of other work performed. Their concrete stamper (Arnie), is awesome.  Fabulous work by Arnie!  After contract was signed communication was difficult.  We were told to call anytime of the day and week.  Although they may not answer we were assured that a return call would be made, usually within the hour.  Ha! Luke rarely answered his phone and messages to call were not timely.  Chuck almost always answered although he wasn't over our project so he couldn't provide too much information and deferred to Luke.  No problem, we understand that but, we needed Luke to call.  There was a he said she said several times during the project leaving us to wonder who to believe. We were told by a sub-contractor that he never heard from Luke about certain issues but, Luke would tell us that he spoke to the sub-contractor.  Who to believe?  A truck was driven through our neighbor's yard to gain access and rutted the area.  Several days later we saw our new neighbors looking at the ruts.  What a way to meet your neighbors for the first time.  Overall the project came out great but, there was a lack of comminucation between subs and us.  We didn't appreciate being left in the dark about the progress of work.  What was to be a 2 week project was 5 weeks due to bad weather which is understandable however, an occassional call would be nice. "

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Laramie, WY

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
