"T-Stat Heating and Cooling, service provider personnel, were prompt and relatively professional. Not having had need for this type of service from other professionals in this area nor the comparative experience from the service provided thereof, I found it necessary therefore to rate this pro as indicated-three star. The project was started on August 5, 2025 and it was completed on August 8, 2025. Thereafter, an issue arose with the integrity of the cooling operation of the installed unit - most notably the thermostat. Mr. Lopez, of T Stat Heating and Cooling, has addressed the issue and his service people have changed the thermostat - on Monday, August 11, 2025. The service individuals changed the thermostat and monitored its operation - the cooling issue was not resolved. They indicated that they would return on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. The temperatures in this area have been in the 100s. In context of this relevant experience it is not just to make a true accessment. Thank you "

FAQs for central a/c service or repair projects in Las Cruces, NM

A condenser fan motor is a crucial part of your air conditioner that prevents the compressor from overheating. It pulls heat from your AC unit to cool the refrigerant moving through the condenser coils. This allows your system to blow cool air and keeps everything running smoothly.

The most common causes of AC fan motor failure include loss of lubricant in the system due to overheating and a rusted or leaking run capacitor. Poor lubrication can also cause failure in the belt drive, which may impact the AC fan motor. Weather and electrical components can also affect your AC. For example, a storm could send water into your motor windings and damage the internal components.

Air conditioner fan motors last about 12 years on average, though they can last longer if maintained well. This includes keeping them clean and cooled as needed with annual air conditioner checkups. Routine maintenance is essential to catch AC fan issues early. An HVAC inspection can cost between $70 and $500, while AC cleaning services may range from $100 to $400.

A broken AC fan motor may need replacement because this part usually can’t be repaired. Several things indicate it’s time to replace your AC fan motor, including buzzing noises, a constantly running fan, unusually high energy bills, or an aging system. If you notice these signs, call an HVAC pro for help before the faulty motor starts to strain other parts of the AC system.

There are clear warning signs of a bad AC fan motor, including unusual interruptions in the fan operation. The motor might be malfunctioning if you hear weird noises like grinding or rattling or if the fan continues to spin when the unit is off. These indicators compromise your AC’s cooling performance and increase your energy costs. Addressing these issues immediately by contacting a trusted HVAC professional prevents further damage and safeguards your HVAC's efficiency.

Replacing your AC fan motor takes a professional one to four hours. The technician will start by assessing your system and safely removing the damaged motor. If a new part needs to be ordered, it might take a few days. Once the part is available, your pro will install it properly and make sure your system is running smoothly.
