"Full renovation. Want to upsize water/gas & replace my failed stop-and-waste. Called PP and asked to schedule an estimate. Lady asked about project. Explained the gist and she said she couldn't provide an estimate for that over the phone, but told me their hourly rate is $165 and that is per worker so double that if two were on job, etc. Pricey, but not unexpected for skilled labor. Scheduled a time and I met Rodney. He was knowledgeable & friendly. Explained in detail what I wanted, asked if it was feasible, etc. He said they could do the water part, but since the gas line is owned by Dominion Energy up to and including the meter, I'd have to talk to them about if the gas line and/or meter needed replacing. Called DE and got on the waiting list for a "pre-eval", and as Rodney recommended I sent an email to PP with all the details of the project and a sketch for clarity. While waiting for DE to get back to me I got an invoice for $165 in the mail from PP. I called PP and asked why"

"Our specific Plumber was Brent Young and hands down he is the best Plumber we have ever had. And after 30 years of home ownership we have had to use a lot. From the beginning there was no high pressure sales. He presented the facts so I could make a smart decision and the pricing was very fair (I shopped around a lot beforehand). When Brent came to install he was super professional and took great care to make sure the service was done right and that we were comfortable with it. He even did a couple of extra small things. Seriously, this was the best plumbing service we have ever had. I highly recommend Brent and would absolutely use him again in the future."

"Michael (owner?), installed a back flow preventer for our sprinkler system in April, 2024. It had a 2 year warranty. About a year later, the valve leaked again. He said it was due to corrosion in the pipe from oxidation and in his 30 years in business, he's seen it from time to time. He slapped us a $362 bill for dispatch and cleaning the valve without first informing us of either the $120 dispatch fee (known) and cause (unknown) . We had used him for a water softener install during COVID which also had issues 1 year later-- he ended up coming out to repair (again, informing us of the service fee only afterwards). I talked to Michael about this afterwards and he spent 30 minutes explaining how this is a common issue for back flow valves (yet he never bothered to informed us before hand) and how he's been in business for 30 years and highly qualified (yet he never bother to inform us of the dispatch fee and other fees). There's a pattern of dishonesty here! Beware!"

"The process was quick and easy. I just provided a water sample. It was determined that I had high levels of chlorine in our drinking water. I was able to solve my water problems with only one filter. Why did I wait years to have this done? Now I can be confident that our water is safe. Highly recommended."

"DO. NOT. JOIN. THE. CHAMPIONS. CLUB. After spending thousands to get hookups installed for laundry and doing some other projects, they talked me into joining their Champions Club that had several "free" maintenance visits per year. After one of these visits, when I refused some of their suggested repairs, they sent an insulting email asking "What's holding you back?" I guess the initial thousands of dollars I had spent wasn't enough, and now they're treating me like someone who is having financial problems. I replied to their email to let them know that it was offensive, but nobody ever responded. If you try to cancel and leave the Champions Club before the year is over, you have to pay for any of the free services you used. Another "benefit" of the Champions Club is their priority scheduling, saying they will bump you to the front of the line, in front of other non-members. But if you don't read the fine print, this only applies to repairs, and not to any of the maintenance services. When I tried to get the free AC Tune-Up done before summer, they said they couldn't see me until the end of September. I waited until the end of September in my home without air conditioning until the day of my appointment finally arrived. They said they would be there between the hours of 1pm and 6pm. I got a text at 5:30pm saying they needed to reschedule because their technician had something come up. This was the first communication I got from them that day. Needless to say, they lost a customer. And I am counting down the days until I can safely cancel my Champions Club membership without any penalty so that it doesn't renew for another year. My advice, choose any other HVAC company, but read through the reviews first."

"First visit, two plumbers said blockage was cleared, they sent a camera down the line and said it looked ok. Next day, laundry drain backed up again, a different Bachman plumber looked at it again and said it all looked good. He recommended calling Dave at DrainTech. Dave came out today, found the problem and cleared it ... for now. We're already out $1300 and we still need to get an excavator/septic guy to repair a broken drain line in the yard. Will not call Bachman in the future"

FAQs for sump pump repair or replace projects in Layton, UT

Sump pumps last about 10 years with proper maintenance and prompt repairs. Several factors can influence your sump pump’s lifespan, such as usage, environmental conditions, and installation. Premium sump pumps with heavy-duty motors and quality components tend to last longer than lower-cost models. Pedestal sump pumps usually last longer than submersible models since they’re not constantly exposed to water.

A basement French drain is a drainage system installed in basements or around a building’s foundation to redirect water and prevent flooding. This system features a trench with a perforated pipe that catches and transports water away. These systems can crack, freeze, or clog, potentially resulting in flooding or strain on your sump pump.

You can use a sump pump in your yard to minimize pooling water and landscape damage, but it’s best used in conjunction with other drainage systems. This can include French drains, trench drains, underground downspouts, and other equipment. Proper lawn care, such as soil aeration and native plants, also aids with drainage.
