"Mixed review I had spoken with other radon remediation companies and received quotes before meeting with Erickson Foundation Solutions. The salesman, Chris, seemed much more thorough in his approach and he gave a presentation explaining radon, its danger and the process to remove it. The quote was slightly higher than another quote, but I felt more confident. And with the added fan moisture guard, the system came with a 10-year warranty. So I agreed to the proposed plan and paid a deposit. Later I decided to not install concrete in the adjacent (but not connected) basement/crawl space. I asked Erickson to quote installation of plastic sheeting to seal that space. John, the sales manager’s quote doubled the total price. I already had found durable plastic sheeting for about $300. So how would that become $2000 extra? John explained that there would be a drainage mat under the plastic and it would be attached every few inches to the walls and then sealed with caulking. But besides sealing the area, the quote also included another extraction hole and piping to connect it to the fan. This seemed to me like over-kill for a 1200 square-foot house. But he said without the second extraction location, they would not warranty the job. So I accepted the “up-sell” and signed. Today the office called to tell me when the crew would arrive and they arrived on time and were very pleasant. However, they did not have the drainage mat. They called their supervisor and was told that it was not included in the quote and would be an additional charge. In fact it had been a verbal inclusion, not written. The crew was surprised that a second extraction hole was quoted, since the radon levels were not very high to start (3.8 and 5.4). So I feel that I accepted a possibly unnecessarily elaborate system, more elaborate than I probably really need, for twice the price. And didn’t receive the drainage mat that I was told would be part of it."

"If you are looking for people to repair your foundation, you might be feeling stress and anxiety. I certainly was. I noticed two cracks in my foundation, one vertical and one diagonal. After some expert googling, I was less concerned about the vertical crack but anxious about the diagonal one, which could be the sign of structural issues. I called Tom and he called me back within five minutes. He asked me to send him pictures of the cracks. He immediately called me back to tell me that I should not worry about the diagonal crack as he'd seen much worse in his career, and he thought it probably happened in the first year of the house and that I just needed to monitor it to see if it got worse. as for the vertical crack, he said this is very common - when I told him it was hard to get to from the inside (wedged between the water heater and the furnace), he said that I could just let it be for now as it was no big cause for concern, and to just get it repaired when I had the water heater replaced in a few years. Tom was super professional, knowledgeable, courteous, and an all around ethical guy as I was feeling anxious to repair the foundation to ensure the house doesn't fall down. I didn't expect such a great response."

The installation was done well with attention to my input on vent installation and handling condensate outflow. Area was left as clean as when they started.
In making the decision about the service the owner, Don was very willing to visit a couple of times to discuss intent and options. He was also will willing to reach out to other professionals when I had questions he didn't know answer for. Someone less customer oriented might have allowed an installation based on what I said, but one that wasn't the most effective way to go about it.
The only issue with the whole process was once I was ready it still took a couple of weeks to get a contract done. Given the final result I am very happy I stuck with it instead of getting discouraged.
