"EXCELLENT! Matt was always prompt and on-time for appointments. His price for the carpet and installation was very reasonable. When the day of installation arrived, his crew were arrived on time and wasted no time getting to work. The finished product was excellent and his crew left nothing behind to be cleaned up. Installation was smooth and efficient. Matt the Carpet Guy is highly recommended by this satisfied customer!"

"One of three suppliers contacted for an estimate (Second supplier was non-responive. The third supplier's store was manned by someone who knew very little about flooring product and services. That owner subsequently called, but priced 2 hardwood selections (of different quality and known prices) at the same price). The selected owner came to the house promptly and provided his estimate the next day. The estimate was simple, but complete and without a lot of legal mumbo jumbo. The owner was very cooperative, had his crew remove everything over one weekend to enable a different contractor (painter) to start his effort on Monday. When the painters finished, the hardwood crew returned to complete their installation in two days. They did an excellent job and left the house very clean. Don't let the laid back attitude of the owner fool you. He was very trustworthy and the crew did an excellent job. They did exactly what they said they'd do. <br />"

"Process went very well. From picking the carpet with the sales person to installation. <br /> <br />Only have 2 complaints. 1) They have a minimum purchase amount for the "free installation". 2) One installer spoke NO English, and the second spoke very little. Was hard to communicate with them. But they did a good job and were professional. <br />"

"Our purple carpet had about 100 urine stains from previous dogs and our own. The specialist, Robert, matched to color and treated every spot. If we didn't know where they were, we'd never know they spots had been there. Perfect job!"

"Free estimate and as we were unsure if we wanted an area tiled or not, they allowed us to keep both the carpet samples and a ring of tile/linoleum samples.  We ended up doing the tile ourselves, as the price for that was fairly high, and it was nice to have the carpet sample (a large sample, not a tiny one) to take to the store when picking tile and grout.  The price and quality of the carpet and pad was great.  They didn't push us into the most expensive one, made suggestions based on our lifestyle, family makeup, and location where it was to be laid.  When the time came for installation, they were quick and professional.  Highly recommend this company! <br />"

"From the beginning, the folks at FastFloors explained that it would take longer than usual because the tiles would go from the factory to a regional distribution point before the warehouse could ship them via Fed Ex.    I found the people I dealt with on phone or email to be professional; that is, they kept me in the loop at all times, and they did deliver what was promised. That is, the tiles were all in good condition and as described.   However, twice the <em> factory </em>missed or somehow overlooked shipping my admittedly small order, and thus the tiler and I had to wait for the next time a shipment went to the distribution point etc.   Delivery took more than six weeks. Realizing where the problem lay, I tried to be patient, but the uncertainty was upsetting.    I do not believe this will happen to every person who orders from FastFloors, but if you have a small order that is not in stock, be advised that you might expect some uncertainty."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Lewes, DE

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
