I had requested my fireplace be done, but David explained to me that my gas unit did not require this. I appreciated his honesty and not charging me for something I didn't need, when he easily could have taken advantage of my lack of knowledge. "Shane Dayton has done repairs for me for several years and decided I wanted him to do a total exterior renovation to our two story house. We reached an agreement based on exterior was to look like a new house. All personnel, particularly Alphonso and David, and subcontractors provided excellent work performed on a timely basis and the appearance is that of a new house. "Don't call Top Hat Chimney Sweeps. I had them install a screen over the top of my chimney less than two years ago. Today, I heard some kind of animal in the chimney, so I called them to come back. Their guy was here less than 15 minutes and spent most of that on his phone. He quoted me $315 to fix the screen and add more, but said he didn't have the materials today and would have to come back. I said that was fine. Then he said that the call today, which accomplished nothing, would be $81! He didn't do anything - he didn't even have the ladders he needed to get up there, he just stood on the ground looking up at it the whole time! I said forget it and paid him that and said I'd call someone else. They obviously don't care about their customers or their work. Avoid Top Hat Chimney Sweeps!"

"I hired Gutters by Berger in June 2024 to install gutters—it's been a costly mistake. From the start, September 2024, they didn’t work. They came once, claimed repairs were made, but nothing changed. Heavy rains in June/July 2025 proved they were never fixed, causing flooding, erosion, and deck damage. Though I was within the 1-year warranty, they demanded $75 just to inspect. I contacted them in June 2025—not August 2025, as they falsely claimed (Lie #1). I paid July 2, 2024, after voicing concerns, they say a history of not paying. (Lie #2). Gutters draining into the center of my deck isn’t "client error"—it’s poor design (Lie #3). I never removed hardware, why would I remove what I just paid for? (Lie #4). They offered a discount for the hassle, now blame me for it. Their false, defensive response only confirms the lack of professionalism and ethics. I’ve filed BBB complaints. Avoid this company. Their work and accountability are not what they appear to be."
