"Working with Arthur and the Ballard Enterprises team was a great experience. They did an amazing job with the landscaping, cleanup, and retaining wall. I nearly cried because I haven't seen the outside of my home look decent in so long. :-) The brick for the retaining wall is beautiful and it seems to "brighten" the home. Ballard also did cleanup in my back area and WOW! It looks great and no more walking through tall weeds and mint to get to my deck. I appreciate Arthur teaching me about hostas. I'm not a gardener and know very little about plants and had no idea that was in my yard. And I thought this would take a couple of days but they completed everything in one day. Also I appreciated the quick scheduling of the project and I'm sure my neighbors appreciated it too. :-) Would highly recommend Ballard and have already received many compliments about the work done. I've let them know who performed the work. And I would work with them again."

"It took several weeks to schedule the appointment (Big Deal purchased on June 7; appointment was for July 10.) However, the crew showed up on time. But to my deep disappointment, there were some missed items from the priority list and other problems. Below is the email I sent to them on July 27, after the work was done. I also provided photos to support my email concerns. (see below) As of the date of this review, I have not received a response to my email, which really concerns me because the priority work as requested was not completed. And we have been extremely busy with elder care, leaving no time for yard care, which is the reason I used Angie's List in the first place. Email Sent July 27, 2017 @3:25PM Hi Jake – My apologies for this delayed message. I have been getting my Mother settled now that she is out of the hospital and I’ve been under the weather too. Overall, your crew did a nice job cleaning up my front beds and trimming the barberries, except that they missed a major bed. The bed in front of the house with the birch tree was not touched at all. It needs to be cleaned out and edged. I spoke to Mark during the job and he advised me that the weed liner in the bed closest to the street with the large rock should be removed. The liner was old and degraded. I asked would he have the time to remove the liner but only after everything else was done? He said yes. Well, the liner is gone, but the one other priority bed in front of the house was not done. And that is something I cannot physically do. Also, one perennial and two vincas were mistakenly removed from the large bed with the mailbox. I personally planted three vincas around the flat rock, but only one remains. (see photo) Two had not flowered yet, but your crew should know the difference between a weed and a flower. (That is why I don’t have Steve clean up the weeds.) Also, a small perennial bush was also removed, planted only a foot or two from the vincas. I don’t know the name, but it is the same bush that is behind the large rock. (See photo) In that same bed with the large rock, the solar landscape lights that highlight the rock and the decorative ball lights behind the rock were not reinstalled. Please come back and clean out the birch tree bed and set-up the landscape lights and balls in the rock bed as part of my deal. I will replace the plants. "Mr. Ireland showed up on time to get the information for his estimate. He was very professional and we discussed several options. I received the estimate in a timely manner. While making my decision, Mr. Ireland answered many phone calls and emails regarding the proposed work and provided me with a reference so I could see his work first hand. The landscapers showed up timely and worked all day on my yard. They did an excellent job of cleaning up the area when finished. Mr. Ireland stopped by to check on the progress."

"Each time that BOG has attended our home (~6 times annually) they provide us with a notice that they had been to our property, and insight into what was performed. Furthermore, they send us an email from the technician that identifies the services that were provided, items that they've noticed as troublesome, and recommendations to improve. Lawn care is a tricky thing and takes years to improve. I am the type of person that thrives off of instant gratification; therefore, this process has challenging. However, we have had designers come to our property since we've had BOG - and they've commented on the quality of our lawn and how healthy it looks. We truly value the work and efforts that BOG has put in - as it's definitely been noticed."

"mail.We originally contacted the contractor near the end of April since my wife and I wanted to get some stumps removed from our back yard and to replace the fence. We were also wondering if we needed to get the large spruce tree at the front of the house cut down since it was leaning and shedding alot of needles. Ben came out and gave us an estimate for removing the tree, grinding and removing the stumps in the yard, taking down the fence, and grading the sloping back yard, which is what we also wanted.
The quote we received was complete, and stated that it was good for 60 days. Well, work ramped up, and we weren't able to get fence quotes as well as a boundary survey completed until mid to late June after we came back from vacation.At that point, we had decided to leave the tree alone, since we were told it was healthy and not a danger. We also found a fence company we were comfortable working with.
Two days after the 60 days was up, I both telephoned and emailed the company with a revison of the original quote (minus the tree removal)  and said that I hoped that that quote was still good, and that we would like to get the work done within two weeks to coordinate with the fence contractor.
I didn't get any response, so I again left a voice mail.
I understand that it is a small family-owned business, but I would hope that someone would check both email and voice messages at least once a day.  Email is great, but it still doesn't beat the personal touch of a real person's voice on the phone.
I'd still like to hire them, and I know that I let time pass before deciding to hire them, but I would appreciate some contact, please.
