"We recently moved back to the Little Rock area. The home we purchased needed a complete remodel and did not have a Garage. We hired Ron to complete the Sheetrock work on the remodel. He did such a great job that we asked him for a quote on building an attached garage. Several other contractors had provided us quotes, but we were not happy with their proposals. Ron listened to what we wanted and designed it exactly like we were looking for. Despite the bad winter, Ron completed the project in record time. He was attentive to detail and asked us every day if we were satisfied. Highly Reccommend!"

"All subs lined up and complete as expected.  The work is beautifully done.  The new addition ties in perfectly with the existing structure.  The job site was kept clean and organized from the point of trees fallen to prepare for the slab through job completion. Mr. King was available at all times and responded promptly to my questions. Sub work was reviewed and approved at every stage.  I was kept informed of progress and next in line events around the construction.  I didn't go into this job without first doing my homework.  I interviewed 4 builders and took detail bids from 3 and one high level bid.  Mr. King won the job based on his bid, knowledge and his professionalism.  Price wise he was right in the mix.  I hired Jack King because he was easy to work with, met with me about my needs, provided drawings of what he thought would satisfy my ask, reviewed the plan and partnered with me on this.  Along the way I had a couple of changes and those were embraced with a positive, can do attitude.  This was simple.  So simple that I added more items; parking pad, sidewalk, new screen door, sod and flower beds.  He came highly recommended by individuals currently living in homes he built. I would hire him again without hesitation for a new home or remodel."

"This job was started in early December and was not completed until February.  The fir-down removal and new cabinet supports were done in a single day, but the cabinet door and drawer fabrication were not completed until February.  When it was completed, it was done with low quality materials.  The spacing is off between cabinet drawers/doors, the drawer sits crooked, and the slides just feel cheap.  Robert did do a pretty decent job matching the wood and stain and I do appreciate that matching new wood to older wood is a difficult task; however, the new materials just weren't of the same quality as the existing materials and the    <br /> <br />"

"I contacted Foundation Pro for an inspection of my foundation and moisture in the crawl space. Brent Stroud inspected the foundation and crawl space, determined that the foundation was fine but that there was standing water under the house. The moisture barrier installed several years ago was not doing its job nor were the wooden shims placed in the pier supports under the house. Brent explained that wooden shims could change over time and recommended that they be replaced with metal ones which we did. The moisture barrier that Foundation Pro installed is far superior to what was removed and the addition of a sump pump and dehumidifier has removed moisture from the crawl space. Mr. Stroud recommended several ways to reduce moisture around the house including installation of gutters a service that they do not provide or I would have had them install gutters. Everything was very professionally done at a reasonable cost and I would not hesitate to hire Foundation Pro again."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Little Rock, AR

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
