"John installed crown and base molding throughout entire kitchen. He drywalled areas where walls had been removed and arches expanded. He was very efficient, professional, and completed the job as agreed on time and within budget. We will use him in the future for other remodeling projects!"

"We received Patrick's name thru a family friend when we started looking into doing a kitchen remodel. We couldn't have asked for a better contractor to work with! He was very professional, always prompt and was excellent at communicating with us. His workmanship is outstanding and it is easy to see that he takes pride in it. He also left things spotless at the end of each work day. We are thrilled with our tile back splash and will certainly hire Patrick for future projects. A+++"

"Things went very well. The four-person crew was prompt, professional and and efficient. The foreman described what was going to happen and how. The concrete walkway, front step and driveway sections that had settled over time were gently lifted and leveled using a polymer foam. After the work, all of the driveway section seams were level and smooth. Very few traces of the work were left behind. We would highly recommend Badger Basement Systems."

"The first reach-in closet had some problems, but they were rectified by the owner himself. Because of that great service we went on to add the other closet areas. Not only are the closets extremely practical & well-laid out, the installation was quick (with no mess left by the installers) and our sales person had terrific ideas to maximize our closet spaces."

"Earlier this year (2016), I contracted Waunakee Remodeling to update my kitchen with flooring, countertops, gas installation, new sink, plumbing and major appliances. Consulting with Project Manager Ken Fennewald and Project Consultant Chad Trimble, we set out a plan for getting the job started, continued and completed. Starting: Floor plans were drawn, appliances/sink/faucet/countertops were chosen, scheduling was implemented and supplies ordered. Continuing: Gas piping, flooring, countertops, sink and plumbing were installed. Completion: Carpentry (wood-working and finishing details), inspection and final nit-picking adjustments. The people that helped make the project a success were: • Waunakee remodeling - Ken Fennewald - Project Manager - Chad Trimble - Project Consultant - Jenny - Designer - Sawyer and Cory - Carpenters • CarpetsPlus COLORTILE - Jeff Howery - Flooring Consultant - Bob - Installer • Avid Plumbing - Eric - Owner • Grand Appliances, Inc - Doug Haag - Building Account Manager - Installation crew (do not remember names, sorry) • Ideal Surfaces, Inc - Countertop Installers (do not remember names, sorry) The project was handled by very professional, friendly, knowledgeable and courteous people. They went way above my expectations to complete the job smoothly and on-time. I totally recommend Waunakee Remodeling and the subcontractors."

"The whole team knows just how to design and everything to look for, having a customer that is so unsure is difficult for sure.  I bring all my clients to Mid West so that we can design the best space for the best price!  I wouldn't go anywhere else!  Thank you Team Midwest! <br />"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Lodi, WI

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
