" Customer service: Excellent. Trust Ed to help you pick the right carpet and also find a special one. Capet for bedroom: excellent, fast, efficient take away of old, effective movement of furniture, and installation was perfect. Separate carpet for living room: Ed found the perfect brick red, and the twins installed a perfectly bound rug, moved and replaced furniture, left a bound runner for the kitchens. Outstanding. (Our second job -- our first years ago was new flooring in hall, living room, kitchen and dining room -- great job, that's why we went to Macadam again --can't go wrong)"

"We dealt with Koeber's in the past when replacing bathroom flooring and were very pleased. Based on our experience, we turned to them to replace our existing 1,000 square feet of laminate and tile downstairs flooring. The business is relatively small family owned and dealing with them feels that way - everyone was very helpful in helping us decide which type of flooring best met our needs. We did not price shop - based on reviews and our previous experience, we chose what we felt was the best option for our work. On the negative side, the installation queue was 8 weeks out - not a problem for us but might be an issue if you had to have it done tomorrow. The installation took 4 days and they were able to float the flooring material over our existing floor with no transition required - even though we used a different pattern in our kitchen area. The installers (John/Kevin) were extremely polite, moved all of our furniture, worked around our PC so it did not need to be disconnected, and were extremely tidy. We are quite pleased with the flooring and our dealings with Koeber's. Shopping around might get you a better price but our chief criterion was quality and dependability - and we were not disappointed."

"Jennifer, Kristina and the entire team are amazing - a first class act. It's really true - once you start with one area you just want to keep going. I've worked with Team Nifelle on two different projects - one being a complete remodel of a second home and then redoing and freshening up areas in a home we built 18 years ago. Her office staff and designers on her team are top notch. I can say that I look forward to each time a meeting is scheduled - lots of creative energy flows. And results are fantastic. Jennifer and Kristina have patiently worked with me through lots of questions and many doubts - and it has all turned out beautifully. You can trust Jennifer and her team for the very best of it all."

"The Pro: Carpet was removed, pad and new carpet installed for our entire upstairs in less than two days. The Negative: There are multiple seams in our hallway that were not there when the previous carpet was installed and two stand out, and when reaching out to the owner, he immediately told us why it had to be that way and that there is nothing wrong with what had been done. Two of his installers were the ones laying the carpet and he only came by for the bid. He said that he had us order less carpet to save on waste this way. We have a LOT of extra carpet which would have been able to be utilized on the entire hall so this did not seem accurate. He told us the he would come out and look but if he did and didn't find an issue that he would charge a trip fee, and he then told us why we would be wrong and be charged. Later that day we also found a hole in the stairway with some torn sheet rock. When texting him about this his response was "it wasn't us". Who else was there at that level working on carpet I ask? Yes, he cashed the check and hasn't responded when we told him that it was them. Unless you just want a quick installation with seams in places you wouldn't expect, and no positive follow up, we would not recommend working with Pannell Floors. Updated: The owner, Dave, has responded multiple times and that we have chosen not to engage any further. We understand that the hole may be an issue from the past, but not the tear in the sheetrock. We have reached out and had an independent inspection completed, and will be having our hallway carpet reinstalled with less seams in the near future. We recommend that whenever you work with a contractor, that you ask about where seams are going to be placed, and if they will show, as the fact that every time I walk down my hallway and see 3 seems in less than 20 feet, I question the logic and need for this. We would NEVER want to sabotage a contractor's business. As stated before, if you want a quick installation, go with Pannell. Much of the work is quality as well. The seams and customer relations at the completion are the reason for this review, not the quality. A few of his comments: "why your so dead set against me I can only guess, but it's apparent you had this in mind prior to our install as we were nothing but courteous, on time, and professional" "Please get inspection so you can stop trying to ruin our livelihood and reverse your false review.""

"Purchase of materials was fine. Carpet installation was fine. The hardwood floor installation was, and still is, a disappointment. The installation is shot through with gaps. Some of which were filled with an oil base putty whose color is not really close to that of the floor planks. The major issue though was that the installers failed to quiet squeaks in the subfloor of the whole upper hallway. Nor did they mention it prior to installing new flooring over it. The whole upstairs had to be ripped out and reinstalled. The Floor Store did pay for the rework but the fact that such thoughlessness was demostrated was astounding. The reinstall was performed by their "cleaner" but the nosing and several other spots have the same gaps with the same putty. I would not recommend The Floor Store. We cant be the only ones that have experienced."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Longview, WA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
