"Getting a walk in tub is expensive no matter who you use. My experience thus far is with installation only and I must say my install went great. It has been over a month and no issues with my tub so I cannot comment on repair process with American Standard."

"The Zia team is a great one! Martin provided a great detailed estimate and helped us make our insurance claim easier and fully representative of all damages. His work crews were very knowledgeable and very helpful throughout the work. The Zia team delivered on what they detailed out , gave us options, did great work in restoring our walls, ceiling, floors and lighting. It was a pleasure working with them. I would not hesitate to ask them to do more work and strongly recommend them to anyone needing restoration or remodeling work in the Santa Fe area."

"We wanted to redo the tub and shower installation. The company representative showed us a wide range of materials and and roughed out a design based on what we indicated we wanted. He gave us the price for what we wanted and told us we would be notified when the materials came in so we could schedule the start of the project. The project required removing the old tub and relocating the plumbing and shower head to a different wall. They protected all the exposed areas from dust and once they started, it only took about one week to complete the job. They cleaned after themselves everyday after their work, and upon completion of the project. They do excellent work and the new shower enclosure looks great! I would recommend them to anyone doing a bathroom makeover."

"I needed to replace my old water heater. Looked up plumbers in my area on Home Advisor. Called 4 companies for a quotation. Three gave me a quote over the phone without seeing the job site. Strongbuilt sent John Mancini to my house to assess the job and then gave me a written quote on site. He took the time to explain all that his company would do to insure a code compliant installation would be done. He answered all my questions and was completely professional throughout the process. When I asked one of the other bidders to provide a written quote listing the work to be performed, they decided to decline the job. I don't know how a contractor can provide a quotation without seeing the job site and evaluating what needs to be done. Strongbuilt has great reviews and excellent certifications so I trust John will insure a quality, trouble free installation."

"Genesis Design and Mechanical replaced a water heater in our home. This was my first type using this company and I was very impressed by their quick response to texts/emails, friendly and prompt service, and good workmanship. In addition, the cost for the heater and installation was lower than 4 other estimates that I received, and their parts and labor warranty was much better as well. I will definitely call them for future jobs."

"Bath Fitter provided a bath tub liner at an excellent price in comparison to other local companies whose pricing was significantly higher, more than double in fact.  Once the bath tub liner arrived in town, they contacted me to set up installation the same day they called.  Eric, the technician, arrived early and proceeded to work preparing the existing tub for the new liner.  He worked efficiently, cleaned up when completed, and the liner looks great.  He installed a new drain as well.  I paid by credit card when I ordered the liner but the company did not charge the card until the liner was ready to install, a few weeks later.  UPDATE:  When the caulk had dried, we noticed the tub liner was not cut to the front floor level and there was too much caulking used around the liner.  We contacted the company and Marty came out and installed a quarter round plastic strip at the liner-floor base.  Caulking was also redone.  Good response from company."

FAQs for walk in tub installation and replacement projects in Los Alamos, NM

Because Medicare classifies walk-in tubs as non-durable medical equipment, it generally won’t pick up the tab. Medicaid can help if a doctor certifies that the tub is medically necessary, but rules change by state. Call your plan early, ask which forms you need, and keep any prescriptions or letters on file to improve your odds of reimbursement.

A walk-in bathtub’s fill and drain times hinge on your home’s water pressure and the tub’s hardware. Most models with a fast-fill faucet need about six to eight minutes to fill and two to three minutes to drain; larger basins or standard drains can tack on an extra 10 minutes. Stay seated until the water is completely gone so you don’t swing the door open on a full tub’s worth of water.

A walk-in bathtub holds 50 gallons of water, and its design supports capacities that range from 40 to 80 gallons, depending on the product. In contrast, a standard bathtub holds 25 to 45 gallons. This capacity is determined by the fixed design of the tub and its construction materials. Homeowners should review the detailed product specifications to confirm the exact volume available for use during bath time.

Walk-in tubs are tax-deductible when the purchase qualifies as a necessary medical expense and meets the IRS criteria. Caregivers who install a walk-in tub also qualify for the Dependent Care Tax Credit under specific conditions. Homeowners must verify these requirements with the IRS and consult a tax professional, as state and program guidelines enforce strict documentation standards for such deductions.
