I called Ashburn Roofing and they responded that morning and quickly repaired the damage. Jose did a fantastic job. He assessed the damage, gave me a fair price and quickly got to work. The roof repair was completed in a minimum amount of time. He also responded quickly again when some shingles came loose again in the next storm. While technically possible in some situations, installing new shingles over existing ones is not recommended by roofing professionals. This approach adds considerable weight to your roof structure, prevents proper inspection of the underlying deck, and may create moisture issues. Many building codes limit homes to a maximum of two roofing layers, requiring complete removal before new installation if that limit has been reached.
Your local climate significantly impacts both installation requirements and long-term performance. Performance-wise, three-tab shingles have lower wind resistance ratings compared to premium options, making them less suitable for hurricane-prone regions.
