"Company claimed they would remove the asbestos floor in the basement after our flooding in August 2025 and put an epoxy down on floor and that it would take about 3 days. During those three days we needed to be out of the house and get a hotel room to live in during those days and nights. and the job was done in under 2 full days. The company did not put an epoxy floor down, only painted the cement floor in the basement and claimed that was an epoxy paint. We did not know this was not right, until our walls were being repaired and the paint came us from the cement floor. When this was brought to their attention, they informed us that they would put an epoxy floor down and that they would not refund us or compensate us for any time either. They could do this without damaging the new walls/footboards, but after three more days of work (and us missing our own work and pay for those days), the epoxy was put down, but the walls/footboards were damaged. Again, after multiple calls to "

Customers say: Quick response

"From start to finish, DJK was amazing. Vanessa was extremely helpful and communicative. Alyssa did an amazing job explaining the process and Brain was amazing with the inspection. The crew that came out to do the actual asbestos abatement were very professional. The site supervisor called ahead of time so we knew when they would arrive. They were very respectful of the property and surprisingly clean for a job that’s not clean at all. For the quality of work, the amazing communication, the speed of the crew, you can’t beat their price. I contacted 6 companies and DJK had the best price."

"Andy showed up having already done some research on our house, i.e. when our house was built. He looked at our crack, did a little digging to see how deep and how hard the concrete wall was. He then explained his process in a very clear manner and showed samples of the epoxy that he uses. He also showed the tools that deliver the epoxy into the crack. He had several other jobs, but kept us apprised of when he could begin our job. He showed up when he said he would and did a very professional job, cleaning up after each time. Andy was very personable and great to work with. And the price was a little less than I thought the job was going to be. Highly recommended!"

"John, Bill, and Michelle worked very hard and effectively to remove extensive mold in the basement, and mold throughout the rest of the house. The project took many days. These workers were genuinely concerned about the health and comfort of the family member who remained in the house throughout the project, and were excellent about communicating with the family about what was planned and accomplished for each day. We recommend JP Improvements! This is a trustworthy company with extensive experience in mold remediation."

FAQs for asbestos abatement projects in Madison, WI

Asbestos is a group of six naturally occurring mineral fibers once commonly used in building materials because of their resistance to heat, electricity, and corrosion. However, in 1975, research confirmed that these fibers cause mesothelioma and other cancers, leading to strict usage laws. If your home contains asbestos, removing it can prevent long-term health effects. You'll often find asbestos in the flooring, ceilings, pipes, and roofing of homes built before the 1990s. Common asbestos-containing materials include vermiculite insulation, vinyl flooring, millboard, and corrugated roofing. If you suspect you have asbestos or any of these materials in your home, it's important to hire a reputable abatement company to perform testing.

Currently, there is no federal licensing mandate for asbestos removal contractors. However, certain cities and states require certification and specialized training. For example, in some areas, contractors handling asbestos must receive an Asbestos Handler Certification. Be sure to check your local laws to ensure any contractor you hire meets the necessary requirements.

Homes constructed before the 1990s can conceal asbestos within building materials, and testing provides a definitive answer. You should have your home tested by a certified asbestos inspection service. This professional evaluation identifies hazardous materials and determines whether removal or encapsulation is necessary. Testing safeguards your family’s health and supports smart budgeting for remediation.

Federal law does not require you to disclose the presence of asbestos when selling your home. However, certain states and local jurisdictions impose disclosure regulations that you must follow. Testing and professional remediation confirm that hazardous materials are properly managed. This proactive approach not only meets legal requirements but also protects your property’s value and buyer health.

Asbestos removal affects a home’s resale value because hazardous materials can deter potential buyers. Having toxic substances present lowers buyer confidence and may reduce the property’s value by 1% to 15% if not addressed. Professional remediation ensures safety standards are met and preserves marketability, protecting your long-term investment.

Grants exist at both federal and state levels to support asbestos testing and removal projects. Local housing programs may also offer financial assistance when asbestos is discovered during home repairs. Meeting certification and testing standards is required to secure these funds, which help to manage overall project costs while ensuring safe remediation.
