"Great! Eugene is a problem solver. I went to him for a second opinion after another company recommended trenching which would require HOA approval. Eugene was able to come up with a great solution that didn’t require digging or involving the turtle paced HOA. I’m so grateful."

"Kind of expensive, but performed all the work in about 7 hours (electrical mast/remounted to exterior wall, upgraded electrical to detached garage, installed new wiring/outlet for central a/c unit and side porch light, installed 8 recessed lights, installed 3 GFCI outlets and added a surge protector in electrical panel). Had multiple workers on the job, cleaned up areas, all were very cordial and stayed productive during the call. Completed work looked great. Pictures available."

"I had an electrical outlet installed on my brick fireplace so I could hang my TV up. I was quoted from another company $600 and would have the outlet box exposed from the brick. I used Enoch and it done for $150. Plug looks great! I'll use Enoch anytime I need electric work done."

"Contacted Mr. Electric Austin location to install a thermostat and troubleshoot an electrical problem (outside outlet was tripping if used a  GSI outlet in a bathroom). Wait time for an appointment was one week, I left work early to make service window.  A half hour into my call window called Mr. Electric was immediately put on hold for five minutes till someone answered and I asked when the tech was actually going to show up was put on hold again, and when the lady came back on the phone said the tech was still on his last call it was taking longer than expected. The lady asked if she could give me a call back when she had a better idea when he will be out to my area I of course said Yes. <br /> Well, a half hour later the lady called me back and said the tech could make it there in a half hour I said that was fine.  The tech showed up followed by a unknown gentlemen who I assumed was a manager doing a proficiency check on the tech he never introduced himself or even talked to me.  The tech greeted me and asked what I needed done I first showed him the thermostat the main reason for the call and because it was a smart one he could not install it which annoyed me greatly. <br /> Moving onto the next reason for the call he asked what the electrical problem was so he could evaluate it for pricing purposes I explained what was going on with the outside front outlet and the bathroom GSI outlet and he asked for a vacuum to try and trigger the breaker and tested both the bathroom's outlet and the front outlet well he could not replicate the outlet's problem we even got a electrical lawn mower out and tried for more amps-nothing! <br /> In light of all this the tech was extremely professionally even though we could not trigger the outlet tripping he never made me feel I was wasting his time.  I believe the electrical problem might have gotten fixed when they moved (Mr. Electric)  the washer to its own breaker previously  all three outlets might have been on a shared breaker.  I just didn't want to mess with electricity which was way I put the service all in.  Not having the thermostat installed is still an issue but this wasn't the tech's fault nor being late in light of all this I did not get charged for the call. <br />"

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Manor, TX

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
