"I was thrilled with the work Anthony's Remodeling did. My realtor advised in order to get top dollar for my townhouse, i needed to remodel before she would list my property. Anthony's Remodeling gave me advice and the best options to fit my budget and what items to do in order to sell my home in this market. He was very affordable. Has excellent work ethic. He worked hard to finish in time to list my home. I sold in 1 week for full ask even though the market is not great. Wow. Definitely using on my new purchased home. A+++++++++++++++ I will attach before and after pictures."

"This company really came through for me when I was in a pinch. The 15 year-old electric Ruud water heater in my garage was leaking and needed changing out. I did some online research and decided on the exact replacement model (a 40gal Rheem). The problem was I couldn’t find any installer who could meet my tight schedule. At that time, I was taking care of my elderly parents at their home during the daytime so my schedule was not very flexible. After unsuccessfully trying to schedule the installation through one of the big home maintenance stores, I found Drain Pro’s on Angie’s List and contacted them. I told them the info for the new heater and we agreed on an install time (9:30AM on 2/12/2015). On the agreed to date/time, they showed up exactly on time with the new water heater. After removing the old heater, they installed the new heater along with a new “expansion tank” (see picture). Within 2 hours after their arrival everything was installed and working. I am extremely satisfied with the installation and would recommend them to anyone needing an electric water heater installed. I give them the highest ratings for everything (price, punctuality, etc.)."

"We had some initial communication issues but they worked itself out.  The area was a small space that turned out to be a bit more difficult than expected such as the sink be installed poorly by a previous contracter but Chris was very professional and did a wonderful job.  He fixed the sink so it was installed properly.  He pays great attention to detail and does the job right.  I also used them to re-do my flat roof in the late Spring.  They got the job done right away and for a reasonable a good price. <br />"

"Recently bought an older home (built in 1980) that needed some interior remodeling.  Searched for a general construction and remodeling contractor near Carolina Beach and the Wilmington area.  Found Custom Living Construction on Google and contacted them for an estimate.  The owner, PJ came out on time and was prepared for all my questions!  I had lots of ideas for different projects and wasn't quite sure where I wanted to begin.  PJ was able to guide me based on my budget and time frame.  <br /> Couldn't be happier with how it turned out.  Will definitely use Custom Living Construction again in the future. <br />"

"Very well. There was one misstep when a crew member did not show up as scheduled, but a quick call to the crew leader resolved the issue. I am assembling a list of additional projects for these guys to do."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Maple Hill, NC

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
