"A soft wall due to improperly installed gutter by some other entity or homeowner caused water to constantly leak into the wall from the exterior roofline. This soft wall grow moldy and become riddled with pests/bugs. The contractor identified the potential issues, agreed to explore and open the walls and discuss the conditions, made sound recommendations for repair and did exactly what was noted in the repair (replaced a load bearing exterior wall, fixed the sill plate, completed the roof, shingles etc. and closed up the walls on the inside with insulation and sheet rock.). The work was timely, well done, the workers were clean as they did the job and kept the rest of the property clean. The manager of the job David Apel was and is an excellent communicator with phone/email/text and photos of processes and progress. I am going to use this company in my own investment endeavors on other properties and projects given the level of finished work, the timing and especially the level of detailed communication."

Customers say: Quick response

"Stefan Korn and his crew removed and replaced all of the rotted and ripped screen-panel walls and doors that made up our screened porch with his far superior screen/frame products -- dog-proof screen on the lower panels and regular screen on the top. He and his crew performed the work in an exceptionally professional and timely fashion and somehow managed to keep everything remarkably neat and tidy during the process. We couldn't be more pleased with the finished product. We also truly enjoyed working with Stefan and his men. They have our highest recommendation. Their work is worth every penny."

"Jim and his team were knowledgable, professional and very thorough in their work.  We are very pleased with the results.  Jim is creative and finds a way to get things done when faced with challenges.  We had a 2nd story window which was difficult to reach due to landscape and Jim handled it smoothly and with no problem.  His team was conscientious and took their time to make sure each opening was done properly to insure a weatherproof installation.  We highly recommend Trust Builders LLC and are making arrangements to use them again on a basement remodel."

"Great! I had them look at my gutters about adding flashing and they showed that the original contractor did not install flashing at all! Behind my gutters Also showed me the improper work done by the people that repaired my roof. I really appreciate their honesty and excellent work Would use again and highly recommend."

"<p>When Neil first came to measure for the new doors and windows, he tried to convince me that my front and back doors didn't need to be replaced (they were not that old, but I felt they were not energy efficient). They thought they could adjust them and weather strip to save me the cost. However, I still opted for new doors and I am very happy that I did. They replaced my windows with Harvey Windows and the doors were Andersen. I am very happy with the look and quality of both. </p> <p>The crew was well organized and kept a clean job site. The workers were friendly arrived on they job when they said they would. They listened to my concerns. They also replaced trim on the windows and doors when necessary. It took a total of three days to get all the work done. After the work was done we had a cold snap and I was able to see what a difference the windows and doors made. There were no more drafts and the furnace seemed to go on less often. </p> <p>I would not hesitate to recommend Neil. He does excellent work. </p>"

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Marlborough, CT

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
