"From the initial contact, Nathalie and Misha took care of all my concerns and were quick to respond to my many emails with various questions about process, pricing, and procedure. They got me on the schedule quickly and without issue. Meanwhile, the folks they sent out to do the screens, Dillon and Nic, are consummate professionals. They came and took measurements, they asked if I would prefer they mask up (this has not been a common thing with contractors we've had out for other reasons, so this was an especially thoughtful and meaningful touch), and they were in and out in less than three hours. They were particularly mindful of our cats, escape artists that they usually are. I had initially declined to have the screen door locks installed because apparently I had underestimated my cats, but when we discovered the cats figured out how to open the screen doors, a quick email to Screenman and they were quick to come back out and put them in. We had no screens when we started and now we don't have to use our air conditioner on account of the crossbreeze. The money we're saving on electrical shows an immediate benefit to our quality of life, and the cats now have windows they can lay in without us having to worry whether they'll escape to god-only-knows. I cannot begin to emphasize enough how worth it the whole process was, start to finish. As someone who works in customer service I can appreciate an "above and beyond" experience and it is absolutely impossible to emphasize how above and beyond this whole thing was. Five stars isn't even close to enough. If I could go ten or even fifteen I would! Thank you so much!"

"Great, couldn't be happier.  My 20 year old screens were brittle and had holes in them.  Nick came out, measured and bid out all new screens for my upstairs windows and sliding screen door.  A week later he was back.  One window didn't fit quite right, so he didn't accept any money on the first trip.  He came back a week later with the last screen then accepted payment.  A++, great guy, very personable. <br />"

"I was able to drop-in for a free estimate for repair of my car's rear bumper which had a dent, scratches and a cracked tail light. The staff was courteous and professional. I received a detailed estimate for the repairs. I went to the shop because of the other great reviews on Angie's List. I ultimately chose another shop because the wait time to schedule the repair was close to 3 weeks and I wanted to get the repairs completed sooner. Otherwise the location, price and staff were great. <br />"

"Once again, these guys did fantastic work. First, they replaced the old rusted out hinges on my garage doors, which are carriage-style and swing open like doors. I picked up the hinges, but before scheduling the job, Patrick told me what elements I needed to look for, and said each hinge would need to able to support 50 lbs, and be powder-coated if possible. That was great information as I quickly discovered much of what is out there is decorative, has a lower load capacity, or doesn't list a weight/load capacity at all. What I didn't realize was the existing hinges were reverse hinges, and I purchased standard hinges. However, Patrick was able to shim up the door frame and mount the standard hinges perfectly. The old hinges had rust cancer, had been painted over several times, and I'm sure were not easy to clean off the doors. Obviously the doors were quite heavy and it took two people to do the job. In the process they identified some rot at the base of door frame, and were able to replace it, too. The doors with the new hinges meet together and work perfectly. A few weeks later, a rotten siding board revealed there was also rot damage to the sub-wall at the northeast corner of my house. I sent pictures, and Zack promptly replied to schedule the job. Patrick came out again and demoed the rotten material. He covered the exposed area in plastic to protect from the rain, then scheduled again a couple days later to finish up the job. It looks great. As they had in a previous job, they got siding to match the existing original siding on my 1938 home, so the new material blends perfectly with the old. Overall, these guys are great, and I'm happy to recommend them for similar jobs. The communication is excellent, prompt, clear, and just easy. They are friendly, professional, and great carpenters. Patrick also shared some great tips/info for protecting my house from further rot, such as filling a small area with mortar at the base of the garage door frame to protect from rainwater that it would inevitably come in contact with, due to the building standards of 1938. Super helpful! Thank you so much!"

"Very well. I've used Issaquah Glass several times over the past year to replace damaged windows. Each time they have promptly scheduled an estimate/measurement, and called me back when the glass was ready for installation. Installation went well both times. The first time, unfortunately, there was an error in measurement of some of the interior white lines in the glass; they happily redid it with no complaints or anything. Also, they also re-glased one window for free for me while they were already there."

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Mckenna, WA

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
