"I had a fantastic experience with Dustin from Virginia Wildlife Control. He came to inspect my home for a bat issue, and not only did he provide a thorough assessment for free, but he also ended up capturing the bat efficiently. Dustin's communication style was simple and clear, and he shared all the necessary steps to resolve the issue permanently, without any hidden agenda. "We hired Herley to rid our attic of what turned out to be flying squirrels! He arrived on time and was extremely courteous and professional. He thoroughly explained the service he would be providing. He is very reasonably priced and best of all, our attic is critter free. We highly recommend Herley and his business, Globe & Anchor Pest Control. We would not hesitate to use him again."

"I would give Francisco 10 stars for reliability, professionalism and thoroughness. He did an excellent job of baiting my condo, sealing all the holes he could find and putting my mind at ease. He took the time to explain the process and although I know there are no guarantees in a multi home building, I definitely feel that he did his best to address my mice problem. Hopefully the building owners will do their part but I will be utilizing Alpha Pest whenever I need pest control services."

"The owner was very nice on the phone.  And the worker who showed up was pleasant and polite.  I found bugs in and out within the 30 day call back.  When the second call came, it was raining, so they could only spray inside.  When I found ants outside after the rain, they did return and spray outside again.  But, I found a bug in downstairs bathroom already - less than three weeks after second treatment.  I am not a huge fan of chemicals, but there should be a way to treat these areas so that the pests do not return so quickly - particular as downstairs bath was an area they concentrated on twice.  Sorry, not so good.

"Dustin was very responsive ... I completed the Angi form at 11pm at night, for what I thought was mice in the walls, and Dustin came out the next day. He had a plan of action, did an inspection and ultimately found that it was a bat, not mice that fell and got stuck in the wall. The bat had come into the attic through a damaged soffit panel in the eaves. He critter proofed the ridge vent, placed cages over my attic fan and two other vents just to make sure nothing could get in there, as well as closed up the damaged soffit once he was sure any other bats had left through a bat tube. Dustin was very patient, knowledgeable and his prices were very reasonable. Good guy to call if you have wildlife in your house!!"

FAQs for bird and bat pest control service projects in Midland, VA

You're likely to find nesting birds in external areas such as your gutters, eaves, porches, and chimneys. Some birds also nest in less obvious spots, like attics or even in your ventilation systems if they gain access. A reputable pro will conduct an inspection before starting any work to check for evidence of where birds may have set up roosting or nesting sites in your home.

Leaving birds to roost and nest on your home creates significant risks that affect both your home's structure and your well-being. The constant droppings, aggressive swooping, and persistent noise can damage siding, allow moisture intrusion, and stain exterior finishes. In addition, the birds’ pecking and droppings can spread diseases and parasites, which can lead to escalating repair costs and health hazards.

Yes, humane removal is possible and ensures that birds remain unharmed during the extraction process. Experts use proven methods to safely capture and relocate both birds and their nests to secure environments. Professionals employ stainless steel spikes as a deterrent while avoiding harmful techniques such as poisons or glue traps. You can rely on trusted specialists who strictly use safe, noninjurious methods, thereby protecting the birds while resolving the nuisance.

Yes, there are legal considerations when removing birds and their nests. You must adhere to strict local and state regulations, which safeguard protected native species during nesting season. Special authorization is required to remove protected birds, their nests, or eggs under the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Observing these legal mandates avoids violations and ensures safe, responsible removal.

To prevent birds from returning after nest removal, you can implement deterrent methods. Installing stainless steel spikes creates a secure barrier that prevents birds from roosting without causing injury. In contrast, loose nets may entangle birds and other wildlife, creating additional hazards. A trusted professional will choose and install the optimal method to keep your home bird-free.

A bird’s nest remains viable for a period that depends on the species. The construction phase concludes within 2 days to 3 weeks, followed by a rearing stage lasting 2 to 10 weeks. Most birds become fully independent within 2 to 6 weeks, while certain predatory species require up to 2 1/2 months. This timeline can guide you on when it's safe to intervene.
