"We contracted Winthrop Place for a remodeling job that included converting an extra room into an additional bathroom & converting the adjoining room into a bedroom (adding a closet, new doorway and framing the existing doorway) for my elderly mom. Michael and crew did a fantastic job. They were very professional and completed the work in a short time frame, making the house much more accessible for my mom. They took care to preserve and re-use the house's original wood trim/moulding so the new rooms tie in perfectly with the existing spaces. Michael has many years of experience and it shows in both the quality of the work performed and the suggestions he offered along the way. Finding a contractor for a big job can be very stressful, these guys made the whole remodeling process easy & painless. I'm happy to say that this company knocked it out of the park in terms of quality of workmanship, timeliness, and fair pricing. Can't ask for much more than that. "Jill provided two different floor plans for us, and was very flexible, as far as working the option of piano into the room.  She responded to several follow-up questions I had, and provided suggestions for where to locate resources.  Jill was very easy to work with, and very accommodating. However, I found the process of working with a "virtual designer" to be a bit challenging for me.  That was definitely no fault of Jill's, thought.  I would use her again, particularly if I needed help with planning a room layout.

"They are a nice provider. I talked to them on the phone for about 30 minutes and they sent some samples. We were able to get a discount on designer purchases but not useful on designing the space. Once we told them what we wanted, they were able to help purchase from the warehouse and save about $1,500. I think they became too busy with this big deal. You buy a ticket per room and we still actually have a couple left with this provider. After redesigning one room, we kind of ran out of steam and have not designed the other rooms. Overall this is a good service and it's a good concept. Whomever I spoke with, she was really nice. I would recommend this provider. This kind of service seems to be for people with time and knows exactly what they want. They are super helpful with the designer discount from the warehouse. They don't actual design your room which is slight flaw."

He made sure we were happy every step of the way. The work area was cleaned up daily and even though we had a lot going on it never looked like a warzone at our house. I will continue to use them in the future for all our home improvement needs. Would 100% recommend !!"

We are pleased with the overall appearance of our new bathroom.  It was, however, a long process.  One of our concerns before beginning the project was maintaining cleanliness in the rest of the house while the construction was happening because we have an 18 month old running around.  We discussed this with Dave and he assured us that he would take measures to keep the dust and debris out.  He did cover his walking path and hang up a couple of plastic sheets, but he made no attempt to clean up the daily buildup until about 10 days into the project and also stored tools and supplies in areas of the house that were not being worked on.  While Dave is obviously skilled at home improvements, he lacks attentiveness to detail.  His phone was also a major distraction.  Sometimes it seemed like he forgot what he was doing before it rang, resulting in unfinished work.  For example, he had to remove the new drywall in the shower area so that he could glue the walls down, which he failed to do when he first put them up, which caused them to shift and be unstable. A few days after the job was completed, we discovered that the toilet tank had not been tightened down on one side when it sprung a leak.  He also put a 4" scratch in the new laminate floor while he was installing it, which caused us to have to buy another pack of boards ($66).  While there were a lot of mistakes made, Dave was always willing to correct them.  To reiterate, we are happy with the overall job, there were just a lot of inconveniences along the way.

"The project went incredibly well.  The focus was a quality, appropriate renovation/addition on a 1930's federal house in Ann Arbor.  An architect was hired to design an appropriate renewal and replacement inside and out.  It was important that the builder could handle the scale and detail.  We couldn't be happier with the results.
In retrospect I am sure that there is no way that we could have renovated to this standard at this cost with any other builder.  Pete was the perfect choice for our project.  I am veryspecific about the level of quality and detail that I expect and Pete meets my requirements every time.  He does it with a cheerful problem solving attitude that is uncommon in the building trades.  Pete, and any of his co-workers, are a pleasure to have around the house.  He is dependable and extremely honest.
I know that Pete bids large jobs and small jobs.  That makes him somewhat unique as a contractor.  I am sure he brings the same level of workmanship to jobs much smaller than ours. I am equally sure he can manage a big project when contracted to do so.  My main take away is that high quality work at fair prices is rare in the construction field.  Pete’s company occupies a hard to find niche."
