"We needed a door installed between our kitchen and basement. Finest (styled fiNest) Home Services came out and gave a professional and reasonable bid. Their staff was professional and friendly, and this held true on the day of installation. The door is great and my cat is safe. We will be using fiNest again."

"From estimate to installation Trustworthy Glass went above an beyond to answer all of my questions, provide affordable estimates, and get the work done in a timely and professional manner. I called 3 different companies for estimates and by far Trustworthy Glass made the best impression and was in line with the cost of all the other estiamtes. When they came to do the work they used drop cloths, booties, and worked quicly and with precision. I have a 60's home and was worried that the wood trim could break apart or get damaged, but they were able to switch out the old glass for the new with no damage whatsoever. The new glass is so clear (old glass had fogged over th4e years) and we are very happy. This is a family business and they are so friendly! I wish every company I called for service was like this. I highly recommend them for any job and you will love Becky who will stay in touch with you from start to finish!"

"I had a kitchen window shatter from it being -20 degrees and was able to call them in to get it inspected quickly. When it was time to install the new glass Mr. Jeremy Glass was had been in communication with me to let me know his ETA, was able to replace the section of broken glass, and was able to re-install the window in the correct way vs how the house flippers before me decided to install it. Mr. Jeremy Glass was friendly, professional, and able to get everything done in less than 30 minutes."

"Everything about working with SP Windows was great. The initial estimate was spot on. In the fall I ordered windows for my entire house: around 45 windows! The installation was done the following summer after the house was painted. The windows are so great you can hardly tell we have storm windows. They fit into the architecture of this 1905 home so perfectly they seem to be part of the house. Amazing improvement to the exterior of the house and to the interior also because all our sashes line up now with the sashes on the custom windows. Fixed windows no longer have any pointless sashes blocking the views. We are really pleased."

"Great product and very responsive. A small issue with closing the blind on the door and the installer came back quickly to fix. Unfortunately, it should have been discovered before he left and resulted in additional holes being made in the trim. I've had this company do work on 2 prior occasions without any issues and definitely would use again."

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Minneapolis, MN

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
