"The good news: the car was transported safely. Also, Ely (the broker) was generally responsive and professional over the phone and via email. (One quibble: he charged an upfront deposit that was more than $200 higher than the deposit requirement stated in my emailed quote.) The drivers Ely hired, however, were not responsive or professional. The pick up happened very late (after 11 pm) and the cross country driver demanded an earlier delivery time than we contracted for while en route. On Sunday, the driver called and asked where to meet us. We explained that the contracted delivery was for no earlier than 4 pm on Tuesday. The driver had a fit. We called Ely who said it's not our problem, but the driver repeatedly called and texted us trying to get an earlier time (something that was simply impossible for us to do). Finally, on Tuesday, we called the driver and told him we were 20 minutes from the destination city. It turned out, however, that the driver wasn't even in the city where he was supposed to meet us. The driver demanded we travel to him, and he was rude and uncooperative when we refused. He would not meet in the location that Ely had recommended, but finally agreed to a spot about 3 miles away. All's well that ends well, but this experience was needlessly harrowing, especially given the high cost. I would not use United Freight of America again."

"Kirk was hired to remodel a bath that turned into an entire house remodel. He did excellent work. He excels at tile work, but is quite able to handle any general contracting job including carpentry, plumbing and minor electrical. He also does design work, so he can see the big picture. He is willing to coordinate with other contractors, such as roofers or HV/AC. When he is working by himself, he is a bit slow, but he when he brings in assistants, he gets things done quickly. "I live in Vancouver, BC and the company is based in Houston, TX so a degree of trust is necessary before any order is placed. In my case the awning was sent via truck freight and a large metal-clad crate arrived, seemingly intact. Not immediately apparent when the goods were received was the fact that a fork lift had penetrated the base of the crate and crushed the canopy beyond repair. When I attempted to claim damage insurance from the shipper they sent out a damage inspector and I thought everything was on-track. To my amazement, the freight company declined responsibility for the damage and refused to pay any part of the claim. At this point James Threadgill of Classic Copper Works stepped in to offer a full replacement of the damaged item at no cost to me. I have now received the replacement item (this time sent by FedEx rather than the dodgy truck freight firm) and it is perfect. Classic Copper Works certainly did not make a profit on this transaction but they earned my respect. Thanks."
