"He did his best with my 30+ year-old washing machine. He moved it from the wall and tilted it in order to test out from the bottom of the machine whether or not it was a simple fix, but it was not to be. The engine was no longer functioning. After examining the machine for 45 minutes, he charged $75. He advised keeping the dryer unless I could get a deal on both washer and dryer. "Southern Plumbing of VA came two hours after the window quoted. The two plumbers were professional. They communicated the issue clearly but sought to overcharge me because it was emergency plumbing. There was a clog between the house and the street. They quoted me over $1800 to run a snake 50ft. I told them that was an outlandish price and he said he'd make a call. 30 seconds later he came back with $950. I'm not sure how he was able to drop the bill 50% that quickly if the original quote was accurate. It seemed like they were trying to take advantage of a bad situation. Even he made a comment "well you need your toilets". They arrived, did the work and had left in about 40 minutes."
