"We interviewed many contractors for this job. In the end, it boiled down to the good rapport with Nathan. On the plus side, his work is beautiful and his workers always showed up as promised. He never quibbled about some concerns we had throughout. But, we were up sold some work, (which we likely needed anyway) but were under the gun to make a decision and had to haggle under those conditions. Also, he sometimes requires multiple messages to get a response. Overall, very, very pleased with results and recommend to anyone."

"Our initial meeting with Suj was great. Initially, we had in mind a much larger job. He had quoted us $3000 for the closet demolition / wall rebuild (non-load bearing), packaged with several other items. Together with the fee for drawings ($4000) and permits, this was a bit higher than we anticipated. However, we decided to go with Suj due to his responsiveness and professionalism. Out of our other quotes, Suj’s pricing was middle of the pack - not the cheapest or most expensive. When the drawings were complete and evaluated, he gave us an updated cost of $6000 over text message. The scope of work had changed, and this was no longer part of a bigger project - understandable. The issue was when he gave us the official estimate a week later and up’d the price once again to $9000. When asked what happened, his exact words were “well, I need to get paid too”. He had weeks to consider before quoting the $6000 and nothing had changed since then. The extra $3000 may be insignificant compared to most renovation costs, but for us in our first home, this was back breaking. We continued with Suj since we were already locked in and well past the 3 day cancellation period. Their work for the most part was exceptional. The new wall blended perfectly into our existing structure, and the ceiling patch was also well done. The problem here was the floor. They had dug up a 1” deep pit in the floor, likely to remove the wall studs. However, they did not patch the floor or even let us know this was going to be an issue. We were never told about the pit until I decided to check in on their progress one day towards the end of the wall build. This required us to pay a handyman to come in next day on a weekend to patch the concrete since we had cabinets being installed the following Tuesday. Suj was aware of this and did not believe it pertinent information. Overall, Suj and SoCal Builders do quality work, but the issues in pricing consistency lost us before the work even started. Not even telling us that we’d be left with a 1” deep pit in our floor after was another huge issue which should’ve been brought up much earlier. This was our first experience with a contractor and I’m not sure if this is typical or not. However, it’s enough to make me doubt I’d contact them for any future work."

"We first called Gino almost a year ago, and didn’t really know exactly what we wanted to do. He gave us some good ideas, and we took some time to think about it. When we were finally ready and called him again, I wasn’t sure he would remember us, but he remembered everything we had talked about and even noticed a French door we had replaced. Gino definitely knows his job well. He suggested a paint color based on the type and color of flooring we selected, and after examining a dozen color cards, we ended up liking and choosing the one he suggested in the first place. Throughout the job, he was on site daily, checking up on the work, and we were always in contact. We always knew what the next step in the process would be, and I never had trouble getting a hold of him if I had questions. In terms of actual cost versus estimate, the quote he gave of $29,000 came out to be $29,200 – no hidden thousand dollar surprises. Everything was done in the time and for the cost that we planned for. Choosing a contractor can be difficult – it’s someone that will be in your home and in your life. "My husband I a recently completed our total home renovation with Amit, Yoav and the team at Adar Builders and could not be more happy with the process. We met with many contracting teams and knew that Amit was the guy for us when he sat for about 20 minutes in our Master bathroom to try to figure out how to get my dream bath tub to fit inside it - the other contractors we met with just said it was impossible the moment they saw the space. This same feeling followed through the entire experience. Nothing was impossible or too big of a task for Amit and his team. Amit gave us a timeframe of when the project would be completed when he started with us (4 months for our 2200 sqft home) and really stuck to it. I was nervous because the 4 months was close to our due date for our second child, but Amit made it happen exactly when he said it would.
