"Very well. The men worked very hard in very hot weather. They completed the job a day early. They always left me a text when they took a break or needed to pick up something and they cleaned up their mess. I am very pleased and will use them when I’m ready to work on the side yard."

"Zamora showed up on time and I explained that I wanted a strip of concrete removed from my driveway to improve curb appeal and allow for some privacy between neighbor. He listened to my concerns and asked great questions about project. <br /> After thinking it over he gave me his opinion on doing the job would actually not be a good idea. We are selling our house and being that his wife works in real estate he knows what people are looking for. The job I wanted done would turn buyers off. <br /> I appreciated his honest opinion even though it meant that he lost out on doing a job. <br /> I wish I could've hired him! <br /> My parents used him to install a concrete and brick driveway in town and he did a fabulous job for them. Really hard working. <br />"

"<p>very punctual and completed job quickly. I had a question about one part of the job and Miguel was quick to send out the crew to take care of the situation.  Initially Miguel showed up and bid the job the day after my initial call - on the weekend, no less, they got the job done in record time without a hitch.  I am a detail person and a perfectionist and Miguel and his crew came through 100%.  After meeting them I gave them free run of the house and did not feel the need to be in attendance  -  I trust and recommend them completely.</p> <br /> <br />"

"DMA did a fantastic job and, years later (the true test of a paver job), it has held up beautifully. DMA's bid was also significantly lower than the other two bids we got on the job. They did everything as we originally planned, were always on time, and even persevered through bad weather. Owner Dave was very easy to work with. We plan on hiring them again in 2014 to redo an existing concrete patio. <br />"

"Mike was great in listening to what we wanted and making suggestions. He didn't try to oversell us items we didn't need.  For example, we felt our cabinets were fine and he agreed. We asked if we should reface them and he told us that refacing cabinets can be labor intensive and doing so isn't a way to save money. Another designer said that putting new countertops on existing cabinets was "tacky" and yet my kitchen looks amazing as if the counters and cabinets were installed together. Mike's team was careful and didn't make one mark on the cabinets when they took off the old counter. <br /> I liked all the sub work as well. Glass tile looked great, the quartz countertops were perfect, and the electrical and plumbing work was done well, too. They installed the new appliances quickly and we've had no issues so far. <br /> Everyone showed up on time or contacted us if they were going to be late (which was rare -- I believe we had just one day where the electrician had to reschedule). They kept dust to a minimum by putting up plastic to contain the area and cleaned up every day before they left, both inside and out. Total job took about 3 weeks, just like Mike said.  <br /> I would definitely recommend Cal Coast Construction and will use them in the future. <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Morro Bay, CA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
