"First, Nathan came to our home to give us a quote for a panel upgrade and new wiring with a dedicated plug-in for an electric fireplace I ordered. He was very personable, and explained each thing they would do, then arranging to get the work done quickly as soon as we accepted his bid. Jaden and Jarrod came out to do the job and both were very professional and efficient, cleaning everything up as they went. We are very satisfied with their work and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company or use them again should the need arise. Thanks to all 3 of you for a job well done! It was great meeting all of you. Joyce Naslund"

"Hal is quirky and sometimes hard to keep in contact with.  It took a while to arrange everything.  I say this because you may well encounter the same issue if you use him.  Despite that it was worth it, so I offer it as a warning but also encouragement to be persistent anyway.
We used Hal before.  When we wanted to add another section of fence we had some designs I wanted to build myself, but I loathe putting in posts.  We contacted several fencing contractors, looking just for putting in posts.  Quite a few were completely uninterested in the job, either evidenced by never following through on an estimate, or giving us absurdly high quotes.  Everyone else was more expensive than Hal ? it's hard to say by exactly how much, since they were quoting slightly different jobs, but I think 50% more expensive or more.
Talking to Hal we decided to have him build the entire outside of the fence; for sound insulation we would later add an inner layer, insulation between the layers, and a sort of built-in planter and bench.  I would have felt comfortable with Hal doing that part too, but actually explaining what I wanted (and deciding what I wanted) seemed too complex, so I had decided early on to do most of that myself.
Since we knew we needed a bunch of extra lumber, that should match what Hal was using, we asked him about it, and he was happy to order extra wood and deliver it with the rest of the supplies.  I didn't expect him to plane the wood and use a router on the edges, but he did, which is great.  It makes the fence look far better than if it was using wood straight from the lumberyard.  He even softens the edges of the posts.

"Excellent service and professional staff. Completed work according to contract and did so in a timely fashion. Would never hesitate to call them again or recommend them to family and friends. They also took care of contacting inspectors and getting us a rebate from the electric company."

"We've got American Home Shield. So that kinda varies but united air temp has done some work for us. Probably a couple years ago, I think so. I think its two years ago. They did work on our air conditioning. Well you know with American Home Shield you only pay $75.00. You sign up for a year , its like something you subscribe to.  You call and contact American Home Shield and they have somebody contact you whose in line with their services and agrees to work with them. You pay $75.00 and if its not done correctly for each visit but if they come back twice you don't pay again. Its like 400 and something a year. Its fabulous, its fabulous. If you need plumbing , H VAC, lighting, its amazing. Its worth every dime. And if they can't fix it they replace it at no charge unless you want to upgrade There are some different companies but even when we refinanced our house they had us, no we bought another house in Winchester for our son. And they made us have it in with our policy and they use American Home shield. its fabulous and you don't have to do the searching or anything, If you aren't happy you just tell American Home shield. One time United Air Temp tried to talk us into , they did some plumbing work too, and they were going try to talk us into replacing it with a cheap model. That isn't American Home Shield policy its with the same thing or you can pay to upgrade. Pay the balance of an upgrade. We use it all the time. When my son has issues with his house I tell him just call American Home Shield. They guarantee they will be out within 72 hrs but its usually within 24 hours. We contacted them last week about my son's air conditioning. They came out right away, they had to order something. They had to come back out and they did last Wednesday and they fixed it."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Motley, MN

A whole-house surge protector blocks voltage spikes from lightning, grid issues, or even large appliances before they can fry your wiring or electronics. By diverting excess current at the main panel, it shields everything from your HVAC to your phone chargers and can extend the life of pricey appliances. Homeowners in storm-prone regions or with older panels see the biggest payoff, but any home that relies on sensitive electronics benefits.

Most whole-house surge protectors work for two to three years. Low-level spikes—too small to notice—hit your panel every day and slowly wear down the internal components. Once the unit’s capacity is depleted, it can’t prevent a larger surge, so plan to replace it on schedule (or sooner if a major lightning strike occurs) to keep your electronics and HVAC equipment safe.

A surge protector begins guarding your circuits the moment an electrician snaps it into place. Whether the spike originates from a nearby lightning strike or your fridge kicking on, the protector shunts the extra current to ground before it can reach outlets or hard-wired systems, such as your AC. That instant response is why a small upfront cost can save thousands in appliance repairs.

The unit mounts on or next to your main electrical panel. Type 1 models sit on the supply side, catching outside spikes before they hit the breaker. Type 2 devices snap inside the panel and tame surges that start within the house. Either way, placement at the panel lets the protector guard every circuit at once.

Plan to swap the device every three to five years—or sooner if you upgrade your panel, add high-demand appliances, or notice flickering lights and tripped breakers. Relying on a maze of power strips is another red flag that your current setup isn’t keeping up. Replacing the surge protector at these milestones keeps your electrical system on safe footing.
