Small jobs welcome

"Mike is very responsive, open to inputs and very respectful. He has been doing this for 30years and was very thorough and professional. He had the best pricing of any of the quotes we got for resurfacing. I would contact him again for any future projects. Thanks Mike."

"I had old style yellow oak kitchen cabinets. Instead of tearing them out, I decided to reface with MadCity. They were professional, efficient and did excellent work. My cabinet doors were re-made in a newer more modern style, the hinges are now on the inside and slow close, and the finish is beautiful. I am now proud of my kitchen. I would recommend MadCity based on quality of their product and work. These have a lifetime guarantee and being local, I am confident in their service in the future (though I'm doubting I will have issues). Great experience from sale to installation."

"They did great work. Very professional, on-time, helpful, and efficient. They did extra work to make our cabinet level and work correctly for what we wanted. We love it so much! I would definitely use them again."

"Robert of Kitchen Renaissance came to our house for initial quote.  We spent time discussing refacing options for the kitchen, including several upgrades.  He shared his experiences with the refacing process including his supplier and materials options.  He did a preliminary measurement, and gave us a quote.  He was very responsive to our questions following the initial quote.  We requested additional quote of converting a smaller desk in the kitchen to a cabinet.  Less than a day later, he gave us an update.  After he gave us the potential start date, we accepted his bid and moved forward. <br /> It took Robert approximately 6.5 days to complete the kitchen and bathroom.  He was prompt each morning, and if something changed in the schedule (e.g. needed additional hardware), he made sure we were aware of the scheduling change.  Robert was very methodical in his work, making sure we were happy with each step.  During the door installation, he noticed some finishing issues with a several doors.  He worked with his supplier to get new doors manufactured for us.  It cause just a slight delay in finishing the project, but were thankful he was on his A game to make the corrections.  Others may have just let the issue go and not tell us. <br /> My wife and I think the kitchen and bathroom look amazing.  The natural hickory finish "pops", and really looks sharp with our new countertops.  We would HIGHLY recommend getting a quote from Kitchen Renaissance if you are looking to upgrade your cabinets. <br /> A++++ <br /> Jim & Sue <br /> <br /> <br />"

"Shaun of Twin Cities Shelves was great to work with. I had moved into a newer home and wanted the ease of having pull-out shelving in my food pantry, corner lazy-susan cabinet (which was basically unusable) and a couple of lower shelves for pots and pans and plastic storage containers. He was prompt, reliable and significantly less expensive than another local competitor. The shelves are beautiful and I loved his work so much a few months later I decided to have him install one more set of 2 shelves in my dining room area where I stored serving pieces. Having pull-out shelves makes sure you can access and see everything that you have and need. The pantry especially allows me to make sure that I can see what food I have and organize it so that is doesn't spoil or go to waste."

"It was great working with Joel. He worked with us on every detail of the project. We were limited on the space which made it more changeling for him but he came through with a beautiful red oak corner entertainment cabinet"

"I contacted Cabinets by Dan on a Friday and had an estimate back by the end of the day. The cabinet was installed less than 2 months later by Kevin and Todd. They were very polite and professional. I am very happy with the finished product. It matches my existing cabinets perfectly."

"We have used Kurt and his team for projects at our last two homes. In our most recent home purchase, we wanted beautiful hardwood on the entire upstairs (where the bedrooms are). He understood my vision from the start and consistently provided me with my options as we ran into obstacles in our 1939 country club home. They also re-tiled our entryway/mudroom floors and miscellaneous projects including custom carpentry. They do beautiful work and Kurt is a true expert and professional. Highly recommend! - Christina"

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Mound, MN

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
