"I live in the valley six months and East Coast 6 months. I have used Hegge three times. In 2005, Jose Santos replace 2 kitchen fluorescents with 6 recessed cans and then put in 4 additional recessed cans with its own dimmer in eating area where there had been only a fan with a bad light. In 2011, Francisco Montano put in an additional recessed can in a dimly lit closet. On 1/18/18, Francisco repaired loose wiring leading to a frequently tripping GFCI and corrected a blown circuit with a GFCI. These guys are expert, quick, neat, friendly, and prices are so reasonable for what they do. They are so neat that when they are done, you can't tell that what was new was not there before. Hegge goes out of its way to accommodate your schedule. I wish I had a Hegge for everything, not just electrical. The price quoted was just for the last service"

"Came out on a Sunday to provide an estimate for a panel upgrade.  Very friendly and knowledgeable about his trade.  While we ended up going with a different contractor, we will definitely have them bid on some electrical work in a few months when we start our remodel.  Highly recommended!

"It was very easy to communicate with Eric and he was responsive. While here, I also asked for advice about other things that might need done and he was open and honest so that I didn't get the sense he was trying to up-sell or generate business unnecessarily. The workmanship was top-notch. I gave all 'A's in the ratings, but with a 'B' (good) for price. His bid was in line with others. There were some discounts being offered on Angie's list by other electrical providers, but none of them were very local to me, which I wanted. So, his price was absolutely market-place reasonable and the work was done very well. I would definitely use EM electrical again."

"I was extremely satisfied with Verengo Solar. It has cut my electrical bill way, way, way down. I've worked with a lot of contractors and they were extremely professional. They put in a lot of panels and they're not on the roof, so they had all sorts of installation problems. They had to run the lines up a hill, through my backyard into the electrical panel on the house. It was a tough installation. My out of pocket electrical expenses has gone from $2,500 a month before I got the panels installed and $900 a month."

"They did  an excellent job from sales to installation to service. The installers worked efficiently and very hard, and the project manager was very well-informed, congenial, and very thorough in supplying information. As planning and installation occurred there was constant communication from SolFusion informing me of the status of the job, answering all questions, and developing an excellent working relationship with me.The solar panels are the latest in solar technology, have a 25-year warranty, and will allow me to go "off the grid," avoiding future increases in the cost of electricity.

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Mountain-center, CA

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
