"I needed two exterior door jambs repaired on a historical home in Santa Ana. The bottom of the jambs, where they met the thresholds, were rotted and decayed. Additionally, there was possible damage to the bottom plate, trimmers, and king studs. I contacted McGee construction for the estimate. The estimate was more than fair so I accepted. Eric, the finish carpenter, came out and completed the repairs. He draped the room with plastic to protect the furniture, floors, and rest of the house. The repairs took three days and look fantastic. He was able to match up the new jambs to the existing arch doorways and thresholds. He recreated new casings to match the old door casings. Eric rehung the doors and the doors now open and close beautifully. Additionally, the new paint and stain matches the original. Good communication with the company, I was kept informed of the repairs, and they cleaned the job site everyday. i would hire them again without a doubt."

"We had a great experience working with Wade Petrowich and Malbec Builders on the remodel of our midcentury modern Jack Meiselman house in Palm Springs. Wade handled the major scope of work, including installing new terrazzo tile floors, updating two bathrooms, and completely redoing our kitchen with beautiful custom cabinetry. He also tackled important infrastructure upgrades, replacing all of the old galvanized steel plumbing and upgrading the electrical panel. Throughout the project, Wade was an outstanding communicator. Even though we live out of state, he stayed in touch several times a day and was completely comfortable managing the project remotely. When unexpected challenges came up—as they always do in a remodel—he consistently offered creative, practical, and realistic solutions. "Horrible company to deal with. They came out to help to bring the elevator to the first floor. It was stuck due to a power outage on the block. They came out at 3pm Thursday and overcharged us overtime and travel time. As you can see from their publish hours 3 pm is within their working hours. They didn't tell us the overtime rate nor tell us that we would be charged over time.The service took under 45 minutes. Smartrise billed us for two hours at 454.00 an hour, total 908.00. When I spoke to Art at the company trying to discuss the proper amount for this service, he used profanity and name calling. Art hung up on me rather than communicate."

"Don’t use Triple A Air Conditioning & Construction! Also AAA Construction same company Zee Armand (AKA Zahid Hussain) of Triple A Air Conditioning & Construction took our deposit didn’t do the work and left the siding off our house! We found Zee Armand (AKA Zahid Hussain) on Porch.com and asked him to give us an estimate on removing some dry rot, replacing a shower in our guest bathroom and installing some sheet vinyl in both the guest and master bathrooms. The estimate for the shower seemed reasonable, but for the flooring he was charging over $20 per square foot and we had already purchased the flooring ourselves. From Home Advisor: Installing sheet vinyl costs around $3/sf. Installing luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) or planks (LVP) costs considerably more, hovering at $7 per sq. ft.. Zee was the third contractor we had out to look at the bathroom and so by that point we were stressed and frustrated and after negotiating the flooring price down, we still decided to use his services and paid him a 10% deposit of $500. He was then supposed to come over the next day with his helper to look at the job and determine the tools they would need. He cancelled due to rain and said he would start on Monday instead. He arrived on Monday with his helper, took off a couple pieces of the siding of our house to expose the dry rot and told us that he was going to Home Depot to get supplies and update the estimate. He said he would be back in the afternoon and around 2:00 he still wasn’t back yet, so we contacted him to find out what was going on. At that point he proceeded to tell us that because of the little bit of mold that was there, that if a mold remediation team came out to remove it would cost us over $5000, but that he could do it for $1550. At that point we cancelled the job and demanded that he return our deposit. Long story short, he never gave us our $500 deposit back. Upon further investigation it was found that he has had numerous small claims judgments against him. He is also operating without a Home Improvement certification and isn’t certified to remove mold!"
