"Kevin and his son Alex are top notch craftsmen, very reputable and have tremendous knowledge in the home building/projects area. We hired them back in August 2020 to install a storm door and screen in our upstairs porch. This time around they installed a brand new window in a second floor bathroom, installed sun blocking shades in our screened porch, fixed a roof over our garage that our builder did not secure properly, and fixed an outdoor shower door. They are perfectionists, always clean up after themselves, very easy to work with and we feel whenever they are working on a job for us we are in good hands. We have a few more projects we would like to have completed in our home within the next year and will definitely be hiring Performance Home Services, LLC to complete those jobs. Thanks again Kevin & Alex."

Customers say: Quick response

"Tom and Rex are great and I would recommend them without any reservations. Tom and Rex rescued us after a very bad experience with another â contractor.â They are professional, polite, and deliver great work. Tom and Rex removed and reinstalled all the trim throughout the home fixing the serious problems left by the prior individual. Rehung all the doors. Made certain all was plumb and square. Their trim work is beautiful. Tom crafted custom vanities and a banquet sitting area. Beautiful work. Rex reworked the Sheetrock and finished it beautifully. Tom built custom drawers for under the banquet and vanities. Beautiful work and soft close drawers. I am happy to speak with anyone about their work. I would not hesitate to hire them for future projects. My cell is 336 6241648. Jim"

"Computer did the "gotta send info to Microsoft" but when tried to reboot it ran through automatic repair without success. I did all the alternative without any success. He came and picked up the hard drive on Tuesday and returned it on Saturday. Fortunately he was able to "restore" without any data loss. Very happy with outcome."

"Rick did a great job on my door. He routed out a channel on the bottom of a barn door to glide on a track and installed a handle as well. The work quality was excellent. It was a small job but I still felt that I was valued as a customer. Good communication about when the jobe would be completed and when the work was done, Rick kept me updated by text. I will hire this company again."

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Myrtle Beach, SC

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
