"We had excellent experiences with Dirt Works. They are responsive, expedient and do skilled work. We use them regularly to clear trails and clean up fallen trees on 10 acres. We also used them for clearing, fill dirt, gravel and other projects at both our business and residence. We can always have absolute confidence that things will get done right and be well done. I can’t say enough about this company."

"We did our due diligence and obtained 3 quotes for the replacement of our driveway.  Rock Solid Pavers offered us the best price, they are highly rated on Angie's List, and we were able to see a driveway they had just completed near us.  Our driveway was a bit unique as we had the regular 2 car concrete driveway plus a section a previous owner had added (using landscape pavers) that was a real mess and was starting to buckle.  Rey Garcia, the project manager, was great to work with.  He came out several times to help me work through exactly what the new drive should look like and again when we decided to have an additional section done.  They ordered the pavers very quickly and then worked around our schedule for the install date.  Their crews showed up the first day at around 8:30 (I was thrilled that they did not show up earlier as I had been afraid of my neighbors' reaction to major construction starting at 6:30 in the morning) and very quickly had the old drive removed.  The entire job went very smoothly with their various crews doing their thing.  Everyone that showed up at my house from Rock Solid Pavers acted in a polite and professional manner.  These guys really know what they are doing and are very efficient.  Two issues came up during the project.  First was finding a hidden storm drain where the expansion was going.  Rey was there within 30 minutes and his folks were able to resolve the issue without negatively impacting the expansion.  The other issue involved an unknown sprinkler line that caused an issue with the paver base.  Rock Solid Pavers came out within one day and fixed the problem.  The results are amazing.  We get compliments from others in our community almost every day.  We would absolutely recommend Rock Solid Pavers to our neighbors and friends. <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Naples, FL

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
