"Ed did an excellent job on this project. The patio was in really bad shape but he got clean, cleaner than I had expected was possible, put on more polymeric sand and sealed it to great result. I was a little put out with not keeping to the agreed schedule, a bit unpredictable in fact, but in the end it all worked out. The price was quite reasonable."

"Defiance did an amazing job power washing the exterior of my house. It’s an older home and clearly hadn’t been washed in a very, very long time. They brightened up the house and also cleaned the windows, tracks and sills. The windows look like mirrors when the sun is shining on the outside or a light is reflecting from the inside. When looking at my yard through one of the windows, looks like you can reach right out and touch the grass as if the pane of glass wasn’t even there. So grateful they were able to perk this place up! Great communication and they were very knowledgeable about all the exterior siding and windows of an older house. Highly recommend!"

"We met with Brian and two other landscapers. He seemed to be the most responsive and the price was right, so we went with him. <br /> He and another guy showed up and went straight to work removing the rock bed and burying the down spouts in our back yard. They broke for lunch and then started working on the front down spout. Around 2 o'clock in the afternoon he told that he didn't have a part they needed to finish the third spout in our front yard and that they would be back on Monday to finish the job. I was a little disappointed that my yard would be dug up all weekend and that I wouldn't be here on Monday to see the finish product before they left.  <br /> When I came home Monday I was pleasantly surprised to how seamlessly he was able to bury the down spouts and how nice the mulch looked. He redid the edging around the bigger flower beds that surround our house, put down some weed barrier and definitely didn't skimp on the mulch. (Although the mulch itself has faded rather quickly over the past two months from a dark brown to a light brown, but I know some fading is to be expected with dyed mulch.)  <br /> There was one discrepancy between the work requested and the work completed. He had edged and mulched around a small tree in the front yard, when we had in fact asked for mulch around our pine tree in the back yard. We called to notify him of this error and he said he would be out the next day to mulch around the tree in the back. Sure enough, he came out the next day with plenty of mulch and did the whole corner of our yard around the tree. I guess my only suggestion to the consumer is to be clear about what you want and make sure he writes the specific requests down. Otherwise he did a fantastic job. <br />"

"For background, a timber harvest took place on our property in Nashville, IN last summer and the 3 acre lake basin was constructed by an excavator. The lake was full of water by end of January. After reading several very positive reviews of Meador Dock late last year I contacted Tom and he provided me with an estimate to build the dock, ramp and attach a bench and ladder. We kept in touch during the first quarter. Then with the heavy rain during April and early May, we were in a holding pattern until the ground was firm enough to transport the dock through the woods and to the lake. On very short notice, I called Tom Friday morning and told him the ground was probably firm enough to install the dock. Tom immediately adjusted his schedule, loaded up the dock and other items on his trailer and a few hours later met me at my property. I showed Tom the best path to the lake. It was a winding drive through a clearing, then on a narrow path through the woods, then down a steep decline to the lake. Tom expressed some concern about the distance, the narrow path through the woods, and the fact that the ground was still very wet in some areas. He evaluated options regarding how to navigate the trailer down to the lake - heading straight in or backing the trailer the entire distance. Tom was confident that he'd find a way to get it done. He then jumped into action, and decided to back the trailer. At one point there was less than spare 9 inches between two trees. No problem! Tom backed the trailer close to the lake and launched the dock into the water. Then attempting to pull the trailer up, his truck started to spin the tires in the wet earth. Tom was not concerned. He proceeded to install the deck, dock, bench and ladder, then loaded up his tools. He said if the truck was stuck, I'd need to drive my Truck down the steep decline to pull him out - something I was not keen to do. Tom then proceeded to pull the trailer out and up the hill. What a great relief. Tom did an amazing job and had a smile on his face the entire time."

"We found Northeast Decorators through a colleague at work and Angie's List. We couldn't have asked for a better experience! Susan and Tom are absolutely delightful to work with. Their expertise in selecting the best paints and painting with great care and precision are not to be equaled in our experience. They came when they said they would, provided lots of advice and suggestions about the job, gave us a quote and charged less than the quote. They spent the better part of three days on the job and worked steadily. Their painting is flawless! I would hire them again in an instant. <br />"

"Rowland showed up 10 minutes early to do a walk around the house and explain what he would be doing. He took the time to explain the products he used and how the concentrate he uses is safe for pets (important for me). The whole process of cleaning my 2000sq ft house and a small 20x20 concrete patio took him about two hours. At the end he took me around the house to make sure I was satisfied. It was a night and day difference on the appearance of my house and patio. If you're on the fence if its worth it you should try it. I'll be requesting his services again future years."

FAQs for deck, fence, patio or porch clean and seal projects in New Castle, IN

You should clean your deck before sealing it. Cleaning before refinishing is critical. If you don’t remove dirt and debris, you'll trap moisture in the wood, which prevents the new sealer from working correctly and can lead to costly repairs. Whether you need to sand, power wash, or sandblast depends on your deck's condition.

Sealing and staining your deck are essential maintenance methods that protect and beautify your outdoor space. Stain adds rich color and guards against fading, while sealant fortifies the wood against moisture and weather damage. Wood type, climate, deck age, and the degree of existing damage determine whether your deck benefits from one or both treatments. Using both options extends your deck’s durability and enhances its overall appearance.

Power washing and sealing your deck costs $500 to $1,700. This process combines the removal of stubborn dirt and debris with a protective seal that preserves the wood’s integrity. Effective cleaning eliminates harmful buildup, and a proper seal prevents moisture damage and wood decay, ensuring long-term durability and reducing future repair expenses.

Your deck must be sealed every one to three years to maintain its strength and appearance. Regular sealing is essential to protect the wood against moisture, mold, and harmful UV rays. A consistent sealing schedule prevents rapid deterioration and costly repairs. Inspections should be performed annually to determine if the protective layer remains intact, extending the life of your deck.

Leaving your deck untreated compromises its structural integrity and safety. An unprotected deck rots quickly due to moisture and environmental exposure, which means that neglecting sealing results in rapid decay and expensive replacement costs of $4,125 to $11,650. Sealing your deck is essential for maintaining its durability and protecting your home.

The sealant on your deck dries within a few hours and reaches full cure within 72 hours before regular use. It is essential to wait until the complete curing period to ensure the protective layer fully sets and resists weather and foot traffic. Proper drying guarantees that your deck is fully protected against moisture and environmental damage, ensuring lasting quality.
