"Nixon and his worker worked straight for 5 hours moving 4 rooms of very difficult and heavy furniture. They then went on to repair a desk and hang a very heavy old mirror. They were wonderful. They are planning on returning in the spring to do some outside garden and yard work. I now know who to call when I need anything and everything done in my house."

"I recently had my shingle roof replaced and I?m very happy with the results. The team was professional, punctual, and completed the job efficiently. The quality of the work is excellent, and the new roof looks great. They kept the work area clean and communicated well throughout the process. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing a roof replacement."

"Steve and the Flying Colors crew are quite simply the best! After the macroburst of ‘18, where we had a tree fall through our attached garage and damage other parts of the main roof, destroy the chimney and front steps as well as cause some internal water damage to the ceiling, we didn’t know where to start with all the destruction and different problems to face. Thankfully, Flying Colors was our one-stop shop, taking care of everything we needed to repair and even dealing fantastically with our homeowners insurance to ensure everything beyond our deductible was properly covered. They are professional, prompt, kind and caring... a real rarity in this world. Having previously replaced another roof of ours on a different home, we knew we could rely on Flying Colors for that part of the job, but have learned they are capable of so much more. If you’re looking for the best in class for roofing, structural repairs, painting and probably even more I don’t know about, Steve and the Flying Colors crew are your guys. You won’t regret working with them for a second."

"Excellent, no problems. My car was new the first year I used the service and there has never been any damage during the transports. The men picking up and delivering the car have always been pleasant and cooperative. Both Ely and Guy at United Transport has been highly responsive to my needs. I would highly recommend this company."

"Greg is amazing. His problem solving, creativity, attention to detail, and responsiveness is all first class. He fabricated matching sections for our metal shelves, installed and refabricated a pull-down attic stairway, and repaired/painted cracks in our ceiling caused by a previous sloppy contractor. He’s a trustworthy professional, friendly, and does an excellent job of cleaning up when finished. Highly recommended!"

"Brian mounted my 75" TV with laser precision. He did not hesitate to make any adjustments I requested. He was very accomodating and came within hours. I needed him to correct the work done by another TV mounting service. I would definitely hire Brian again."

FAQs for shed, barn or playhouse repair projects in New Fairfield, CT

You’ll know it’s time for a new shed roof if shingles curl or buckle, soft spots sag, or water stains appear inside. Moss or other plant growth on the surface is another red flag that moisture has breached the roofing layers. Replacing the roof quickly stops leaks from spreading, protects stored items, and saves you from costlier structural repairs down the road.

Choosing between a flat and a sloped shed roof comes down to climate, budget, and upkeep. A flat roof is cheaper up front, but still needs a slight pitch for drainage. A sloped roof sheds rain and snow more easily, lasts longer, and often needs less maintenance. Weigh your local weather patterns, the look you want, and how much time you’re willing to spend on upkeep before deciding.

A shed roof’s life span hinges on the material you choose and how well you maintain it. Most standard products last 15 to 30 years, while premium picks like slate or clay tile can protect the structure for 50 to 100 years. Regular inspections, fast fixes, and routine cleaning all help you reach the upper end of those ranges and keep your tools and gear dry year-round.
