"Sutton Carpet did a great job installing a brand new carpet in our reception area, and also came back to the office to fix it up because we noticed some bubbles appearing. They were very reliable and only wanted the best job they could do to be done. We also used them to stretch out a carpet in another room. This project was a hit or miss and they weren't sure if they were going to be able to complete it. They agreed to trying it and spent many hours perfecting it. Now it looks great! Definitely would recommend them in an office and home space. "

"Mike and his company are fabulous. The work was done beautifully and turned out great. In some ways he reminds me of the old school reliability that people used to have. He is very consistent with communication, courteous, respectful, and was a joy to work with through a lengthy process (lengthy because I had to apply for insurance benefits to cover a kitchen leak). Every day I love my new floor. And how great that Mike was such a pleasure to work with. "

"The Owner John as such a pleasure to deal with. He showed up when he said he would and he stayed as he promised until the job was done. He even had to use lights because it was getting dark and I had told him I had other contractors coming the next day (who by the way never showed up) John was so deadicated to getting it done and his worker was so diligent, even when I said I was satisfied he did not stop because it wasn't up to his satisifaction. The job entaled removal of paint on my outside brick and restore it to it's orginal state. There was a section I forgot to tell him about (the chimney side) that he saw and insisted on doing because it was the right thing to do and what was even more towards his integrity was that he did not charge me extra which I thought was very, very nice of him and I will absolutely use him again as he truley is a person of his word and intergrity !!!! "Rocky and the crew did the job right. The arrived on time, took out appliances and debris which included a washer and dryer in the cellar, two refrigerators, two heavy sinks, carpeting, yard fencing, YOU NAME IT. They even double checked the capping and disconnect job I had done on the pipes (see my plumber review) under the sinks and stoves... I got it right... and they removed what I thought would be impossible to get out of the house. Incredible! They came in at 8 am and left promptly at 5pm, all done! The only reason I left a 4.5 on the value was that the place wasn't exactly "broom clean" when they left. there was a lot of stuff that could have been swept up, but I didn't complain about it, I just did it myself. When they leave the premises, they are OUT, so it pays to be organized and prepare ahead of time like I did. Soild guys."

Ideas & Inspiration from New York Flooring & Carpet Contractors

New York Carpet Installation

In New York, everything is more expensive. Fortunately, the least expensive flooring material is also one of the most popular for good reason. The soft feel and forgiving nature of carpet is a perfect repose for feet that have been pounding the sidewalk all day. Kicking off your shoes after a long day in the city is one of the quintessential activities that let's you know you're home. Particularly popular in bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms, and hallways, for homeowners in New York carpet installation is an option that feels as good as it looks.

Choosing a Carpet Fiber
The carpet fiber you select is the single most important decision you'll make for your carpet. Different fibers respond better than others to moisture, sunlight, dirt, and simply age. Since there's no shortage of carpet damaging elements in New York, carpet installation is a particularly sensitive operation. If you install a low quality carpet, normal foot traffic might have you replacing it after only a few years; on the other hand, opting for higher quality fibers can lead to a floor that last decades if well cared for. Of course, you may not have particularly high expectations for your carpet to begin with. If you have pets or children who are likely to track things on your carpet, you may want to save your money and be ready to have your carpet replaced.

Wool: This premium carpet fiber is most coveted. Older wool fibers that have become saturated will naturally shed and keep your carpet colorful and plush.

Nylon: The most popular carpet fiber on the market, this synthetic is the closest approximation to natural wool fiber. It's middling as far as cost, cheaper than wool, more expensive than other synthetics.

Other Synthetic Fibers: The most common low-cost alternatives are acrylic, polyester, and olefin. These fibers will need to be kept clean and protected from sunlight to retain their color and feel.

Choosing Carpet Padding
Many homeowners mistakenly believe that the thicker their carpet padding the better. In fact, the best measure of carpet padding is density. A denser carpet pad will hold up better under the pressure and stress of standing on your carpet, heavy furniture, and other weight. Though thicker pad will create a softer carpet, without a certain density, your carpet will quickly deteriorate regardless of the quality of the fiber.

Cost of Installation
So, how much will your new carpet cost? Naturally, this depends on the size of the installation and the quality of the carpet. A ballpark average is about $1,600, although recent projects have ranged from $500 to $3,000. Other flooring installations average $5,000, $4,000, and $2,000 for wood, laminate, and tile, respectively. Generally speaking, you get what you pay for, and you should attempt to match the initial cost of installation with how long you plan for the carpet to last. Of course, proper maintenance is required along with quality installation to ensure your carpet ages as expected and desired.

Contractors
The most common mistake homeowners make with their carpet installation is to run to their nearest outlet store to find and purchase their carpet. Don't be sucked in by dubious promotions and pushy salesmen. Find a New York carpet installation contractor first, and they can give you unbiased advice about different lines of carpeting. Carpet stores are also known for gouging the price of installation. By soliciting estimates directly from contractors as well as carpet outlet stores, you can be sure to find the best carpet possible for the best price. If you're wary of salesmen, join the club and talk to a low-pressure installation contractor first.

Cleaning and Recycling
Proper cleaning is one the most important part of maintaining your new carpet installation. New York is a place that is hard on soft flooring. Tracked in dirt coupled with heavy traffic and winter's salt, cinders, and slush add up to a carpet that will wear out prematurely if it isn't taken care of. Vacuuming at least once a week is a must for New York carpet. Professional cleaning is also a necessity, as it removes damaging particles from deep within your carpet; many manufacturers recommend a deep cleaning once every 18 months, but in New York, carpet cleaning is often needed at least once a year to keep up appearance and performance.

Carpet recycling is another thing to consider during any carpet installation. New York is known for its progressiveness, and carpet recycling is just another way to reduce waste and make the world a greener place. Some carpet companies will offer recycling of removed carpet up front; if the one you choose doesn't, make it a point to ask them if and where your old carpet can be recycled.
