"Beware! Beautiful (Coretec Plus) product and perfect installation - but the estimator missed the fact that there was glue under the carpet and we were charged and additional $395 over the estimate to cover it up."

"After checking for flooring experts in my area with a good reputation, we contacted Hobbs Flooring in Richlands NC. Ricky Hobbs the owner came to our home the next day. After talking with us to determine our needs, he measured our our rooms then gave us some options on different types of material. The next day we went to his shop and picked out the floor and they gave us prices that were fair and reasonable. We schelduled an installation date and each and every morning the guys were on time and working. Extremely hard working and professional people, they did a fantastic job. We highly recommend Hobbs Flooring for your flooring needs. That is if you want it done by professional flooring people."

"They did an excellent job from start to finish. At the conclusion of each day their job clean up was thorough. While we did not expect it they also power washed the vinyl siding on our dormers making the house look like new. We are completely satisfied with the roof installed on our house by Steven's team."

"Quality product and within $50 of Lowes pricing with better padding. Only issue was communication multiple follow ups with them (emails, calls) to get setup. Once schedule they did install on time and looks great. Receive a call 1 month after install asking "are you going to pay your bill" but would not take card over the phone. During setup they said we would charge 50% up front and 50% at the end which we had no problem with. No actual bill was sent to us or communication after install. So to imply we were trying to get out of paying a bill was a bit exaggerated considering we had to chase them to get it setup. Additionally i returned one of the workers sweatshirts that was left in my closet a few days later after install and nothing was mentioned about settling billing (again i assumed they would actually send us a bill or at least call). Probably miscommunication but considering we had to chase to get setup, does not appear to be that surprising."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in New Bern, NC

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
