"Very happy with the finished results on installation of 2 Jacuuzi shower upgrades at our primary residence - the Jacuzzi product is high quality - our lead contact John Cummings began with a site visit and engineeered the 2 shower cost proposals then upon acceptance helped set our dates for instllation - the install team of Tulo and Gabriel completed each shower in one day each on consecutive days and after waiting 24 hours for proper setup the showers were ready for full use"

"Joe and Silmac were hired to do a complete gut and renovation of my master bath to something sleek and modern that my designer and I had put together. I got the recommendation for Joe from a friend who did two bathroom renos with him and the work was beautiful. This bathroom scale was much larger and the quality of the work was top notch. Joe is a perfectionist and it shows, he wants it done perfectly and for you to be happy. I even tacked on adding a wall and enclosing my office space part way through the bathroom and Joe executed that with speed and helped me to make some fast decisions. Joe is responsible obtaining all the necessary permits and inspections and hires quality people. The final product of the bathroom is just what I dreamed. The only major snag we encountered was the shower glass supplier (who was not Joes usual supplier) encountered some delays in the delivery and it impacted timing for the final completion of the project. I’d recommend Silmac again wholeheartedly!"

"I hired Jeff to take out my old, leaky, fiber glass shower and install a new tile and glass enclosure. Jeff was very responsive, reliable and always available for questions. He coordinated the contractors including plumbers, tilers and glass installers and kept the work moving forward. The work was professional and very well executed. His pricing was very fair with no surprises. I absolutely love my new shower."

"John and his team remodeled our very outdated 1960s kitchen and bathroom. We are very happy with our beautiful and modern kitchen and bath. John was very friendly and very quick to respond to all our questions and provided daily updates. I also appreciated his transparency in challenges working on an old concrete condo building and he did great job working to find solutions to make this renovation a success. I would definitely hire again for future projects."

"Plumbing work went very well. But we asked to re-silicone our shower unit and the door hardware was damaged in the process. It was action above expectations so we're not complaining, but we paid for it and are still awaiting replacement hardware to use the shower. Other than that, the work was done professionally and cheerfully. Other than the shower issue, the work was a 5."

"Joe and Jonathan are amazing. Joe was quick to provide us with an estimate, they were easy to schedule us, and they kept us up to date with all of the progress and checked in about anything that came up. Joe was very conscious of the cost of the things that were being changed and added, and made sure we knew what we were getting ourselves into. The upstairs bathroom looks refreshed, and the basement bathroom is unrecognizable; it is a functional space that is clean and inviting. We trusted their work so much that we have had them back to do additional work around the house. We've been very pleased with their ability to execute on such varied projects, including repairing rot, changing out the tile in our front entrance, and replacing our bulkhead door."

FAQs for shower installation and replacement projects in New-town, MA

Replacing your tub with a shower can modernize your bathroom and improve accessibility, often providing a high return on investment. However, if it's the only bathtub in your home, removing it may decrease resale value, as many buyers look for at least one bathtub. Consider your long-term plans and consult a real estate professional if resale value is a concern.

While showers cost slightly more to install than tubs, the overall expense depends on various factors such as materials, size, and features. A tub installation costs $2,400 to $8,800 on average, whereas showers average $2,000 to $9,400. Custom designs, luxury fixtures, or extensive plumbing work can increase costs for both options. It's important to assess your specific needs and budget when deciding between installing a shower or a tub.

Converting a tub to a shower generally takes between one and three days. The timeline depends on the complexity of the project, materials chosen, and whether plumbing modifications are necessary. Installing a standard prefabricated shower can be completed quickly, while custom tile work or extensive plumbing changes may extend the project's duration. Planning accordingly can help minimize disruptions during the conversion.

Converting a tub to a shower offers several benefits, including saving space and making your bathroom feel more open and modern. Showers improve accessibility, especially for those with mobility challenges, by eliminating the need to step over a high tub wall. Additionally, updating to a stylish shower can enhance your bathroom's aesthetic appeal and may increase your home's resale value if another tub is available elsewhere in the house.

Choosing between a shower stall and a custom shower depends on your budget and preferences. Prefabricated stalls are less expensive and faster to install but offer limited styles. Custom showers allow personalization of size, materials, and features but cost more and require professional installation. Evaluate your needs and budget to select the best option for your space.

If you’re converting a tub to a shower, you may want to consider remodeling your whole bathroom. The ROI on bathroom remodels is high (over 70%), so you can enjoy an upgraded bathroom while you live in your home and get your money back if you decide to sell later. The average cost to remodel a bathroom is around $6,600 to $16,600, so factor in this price range when you’re budgeting for your project.

Converting a tub to a shower alone isn't easy to DIY, so look for a bathroom remodeler near you if you decide to take on a larger bathroom remodel to ensure it's done correctly.
