"We have a house on the hillside in Sherman Oaks and wanted to fully redesign and modernize our kitchen and do it so it would take advantage of our great valley views. The job has just been finished. Our new kitchen is everything we hoped it would be and more. We hired IND Construction. The quality of their work was first rate. The workers were invariably highly skilled, friendly and considerate. The job was completed on budget with no surprises for extras. Erez Shifferman, IND’s Senior Project Manager, and Allan Pineda, IND’s foreman for the job, guided us through all aspects of the renovation with skill and kindness. Whenever we had to choose designs, Erez and his team advised us well, demonstrating their extensive knowledge of this business. Whatever we asked to have done was done just as we requested. Whenever issues arose, Erez and Allan resolved them patiently and effectively. When a major kitchen renovation is in progress, there is a risk living in the house will become intolerable. Everything Erez, Allan and IND could do to minimize inconvenience for us was done effectively. The workers cleaned up carefully after each work day. We were surprised our lives could continue with a minimum of upheaval. We could not be happier or more grateful. Our high expectations for what our kitchen would become have been exceeded. We love how it looks, how it functions and how spectacular the views from it have become. It has been a great pleasure to have IND build it for us."

"Our initial meeting with Suj was great. Initially, we had in mind a much larger job. He had quoted us $3000 for the closet demolition / wall rebuild (non-load bearing), packaged with several other items. Together with the fee for drawings ($4000) and permits, this was a bit higher than we anticipated. However, we decided to go with Suj due to his responsiveness and professionalism. Out of our other quotes, Suj’s pricing was middle of the pack - not the cheapest or most expensive. When the drawings were complete and evaluated, he gave us an updated cost of $6000 over text message. The scope of work had changed, and this was no longer part of a bigger project - understandable. The issue was when he gave us the official estimate a week later and up’d the price once again to $9000. When asked what happened, his exact words were “well, I need to get paid too”. He had weeks to consider before quoting the $6000 and nothing had changed since then. The extra $3000 may be insignificant compared to most renovation costs, but for us in our first home, this was back breaking. We continued with Suj since we were already locked in and well past the 3 day cancellation period. Their work for the most part was exceptional. The new wall blended perfectly into our existing structure, and the ceiling patch was also well done. The problem here was the floor. They had dug up a 1” deep pit in the floor, likely to remove the wall studs. However, they did not patch the floor or even let us know this was going to be an issue. We were never told about the pit until I decided to check in on their progress one day towards the end of the wall build. This required us to pay a handyman to come in next day on a weekend to patch the concrete since we had cabinets being installed the following Tuesday. Suj was aware of this and did not believe it pertinent information. Overall, Suj and SoCal Builders do quality work, but the issues in pricing consistency lost us before the work even started. Not even telling us that we’d be left with a 1” deep pit in our floor after was another huge issue which should’ve been brought up much earlier. This was our first experience with a contractor and I’m not sure if this is typical or not. However, it’s enough to make me doubt I’d contact them for any future work."

"HIC builders is a family owned company, and they did a terrific job at my house. We added an ADU above the garage, remodeled two bathrooms, and did other extensive work on the house. Abraham, the field manager, was responsive and available, flexible when plans needed to change to accommodate structural issues that we discover as the project progressed, and answered my endless questions. The workmen were always on time, courteous, and cleaned up the site every day before they left. "Fantastic. Not only is the end result superb but the process was as smooth and efficient as it could possibly have been. Gino consults you on everything, even after you’ve made the initial choice of cabinets, tile, countertop, scope of work, etc. He talks to you every day to update you. He has people working continuously, all organized so that no time is wasted. Once he started there was not a (week)day when his people weren’t working on my job, usually all day long. He has the work and teams organized and timed so that each one comes to your project as few days as possible, which reduces the cost. Gino is a stickler for detail, and getting everything exactly right, aesthetically and functionally, and the people he hires are very highly skilled with the same attitude. They’re also very clean. They sealed off the kitchen during the demolition so that the dust wouldn’t get to the rest of my open-plan condo. In construction they minimized particulate matter by doing all of the heavy cutting off-site. And they vacuumed the space every day before leaving! I’ve had contractors in several different cities and states and none came even close to this level of work, but it’s how remodeling should be! The price of my project was reasonable given the very high quality of the work, and the scope of work. Gino is very straight with you. The only costs that exceeded the estimate were due to my decisions to upgrade materials, or add a job to the project, and discovery of conditions in the existing structure that had to be upgraded (e.g., electrical). I’ve never been able to recommended a contractor before -- all the ones I’ve had have been so bad -- but I recommend Imperial Remodeling with two thumbs up."
