Additional DBA - Sterling Fence.
"Terrible service. Ordered fence in November 2016. Job was finally done in August 2017. Didn't cancel because of cancellation fee. Wouldn't show up when he promised. Avoided phone calls until it was time to pay him. Fencing sat on our back patio all summer until finally finished in August. We only had one side of our yard done. And the whole reason we finished fencing our yard is because we got a dog. There is such a big gap by the gate that our dog can get out anyway. Why bother calling them to fix it because I know Giles won't do anything about it anyway. Also, provided the same type of service to a friend. Unfortunately, we hired him around the same time, so neither of us knew how terrible he would be to work with."

Hi! This is Gary, the owner of GM Construction. I started in wood and custom cabinetry and studied under a master carpenter for many years before starting my own business. I designed GM Construction to stand head-and-shoulders above the competition in many ways. Here are a few examples: First, I personally do a complimentary consultation with each homeowner. I listen to what you envision for your project and bring sample materials with me to educate you on the pros and cons of all your options. From my vast hands-on experience, I can offer suggestions when appropriate so that your project will complement your home and lifestyle. Second, I'm there on every project to manage and guarantee the highest quality work every step along the way. I do not use sub-contractors like my competition. I use my own experienced, top notch crew and my crew is extremely diligent to be non-invasive to the parts of your home/yard, plus leave a clean work environment every night. Third, you will be satisfied with your project's outcome. I take care to make sure that every client is well taken care of and gets the wow factor in the work we complete. My business is booming because of the great referrals my clients and work produce. Take me up on my free in-home consultation so that you can experience the difference working with GM Construction. - Best! Gary Suchland
"The build went great, excellent communication from everyone. Job was done earlier than expected even with them a man short for a few days. Angela and Gary outlined everything we should expect, worked around scheduling weirdness due to having a new born coming and delivered a great product. Great company, I have and will continue to recommend them to anyone who is planning on doing anything with an outdoor space. Gary's design was spot on, and turned out better than we even imagined."

Diseños Ornamental Iron is family owned and operated with more than 40 years of ironwork expertise. Our principal activity is ornamental iron contracting on residential and commercial projects. Estimates are free!
"After weeks of them screwing up the estimates (in fairness I did change the project scope once) they determine they're not interested in the project. Apparently me correcting multiple errors on their part made me too difficult to work with. Don't waste time with these people"

Small business based out of the Berkley/ Royal oak area I the owner/ operator will be on every job site. Free quotesAccept credit Cards
"Mark agreed to painting the brick; purchasing, painting and installing shutters. The shutters were a make or brake contract promise as we talked about them for years. Mark was to drop off a contract but never did. His painting was very nice, but he didn't finish the job. We got nothing but excuses for the shutters for a month, finally a contact from his wife with a date for installation. When the day arrived an e-mail arrived at 2 pm saying there was a 'family emergency' so shutters not installed that day and offering to deliver the extra paint---not the shutters. He obviously never bought them! We finally had to find someone else to hire to finish and never received the extra paint so had to buy more for touch ups. This is after I told him the entire interior needed to be painted as well so he could have had more work, but not now!"

To determine how much fencing you need, start by measuring the perimeter of the area you want to enclose. Divide that number by the standard post spacing (usually six to eight feet) to calculate the number of posts you'll need. For precise measurements and to account for any irregularities, consider hiring a professional land surveyor.
Wood fences last 15 to 20 years when built with quality materials and installed properly. Pine fences last 10 to 15 years, while composite walls offer 20 to 30 years of durability. The fence’s lifespan is influenced by wood quality, weather exposure, and regular maintenance, which preserves its strength and appearance.
To prolong the life of your wood fence, you need to inspect it at least once each year and act immediately on any signs of loose nails, rusting hinges, or rotting boards. Annual cleaning, followed by a fresh coat of paint or stain every two to three years, secures the fence’s durability and preserves its appearance in all weather.
Fence posts are typically placed four to eight feet apart. Check with your local code requirements to ensure the correct spacing, depth, and setting. The placement of your fence posts depends on the fence height and material. Generally speaking, it's better for the fence if your posts are closer together.
To avoid upheavals or other issues, bury your fence post so the depth exceeds the frost line, or about one-third to one-half of the aboveground height of your post. Check with your local code requirements to determine the right depth for your home since it varies by location.
If a fence borders your neighbor’s property, you must inform your neighbor in advance about the installation. You share the responsibility for repair and maintenance in such cases, so both parties are held accountable by local regulations. It is essential to confirm your local code requirements and documented agreements to avoid future disputes and ensure clear responsibilities.
