"At first I was very impressed by NEFCOR.. Read on. My rental company hired them to test our air as we were having severe eye irritation and nasal burning. We have never had any allergies at all, not even seasonal irritation. We were very worried as we had a then four month old baby in the home and we had just moved into the rental when we had these new symptoms. The lab results that Clay s technicians took came back showing high levels of stachybotrs (black mold), aspergillis, penicillin in our baby s nursery and in our living room (they only took two samples). But Clay said we were fine to remain in the house and that our rental company just needed to hire them to do a vapor barrier and another company to fix a foundation issue. He said as long as the total spore count was lower inside than outside, we were fine. No regard to the types of mold present. He said we could have tracked black mold in on our shoes (I have now learned that the level of stachybotrs on the results should have never shown up in air samples). A few weeks went by when I had a gut feeling that something was not right. We were still having severe symptoms. Through an engineer friend who works for the US Army Corps of Engineers, I found an environmental engineering company called Crane Environmental Services who also does mold inspections. They interpreted the lab results that Clays technicians took very differently. They told us we needed to move out immediately and disinfect all of our items so as not to take the mold spores with us. DO NOT hire this company if you have your family s health in mind. Please do your research on these types of molds that I described. The fact that Clay is telling families they are fine if their total spore count is lower than the outside is ridiculous. Thanks for reading and tell everyone you know to stay away!!"

"We did the powder room first and we liked them so much we had them do the full baths. Their estimate was detailed and accurate. Workerswere on time, very professional, and we did not hesitate to have them working in our home while we were not there. Their supervisor checked in frequently. We had no delays during the process and each remodel was finishd in the estimated time."

FAQs for mold & toxic material test projects in Nicholasville, KY

Some companies offer a no‑cost phone or video consultation that screens for red flags. If the discussion points to a real issue, the pro will recommend a paid on‑site inspection. The complimentary call clarifies whether you need full testing, but it isn’t a substitute for samples, lab work, or a written report. Always confirm what the free service covers before you schedule.

A standard inspection, which includes basic air and surface samples, takes an average of two hours. If the pro needs to probe hidden spaces, such as wall cavities or ductwork, plan on up to six hours. Extra time allows the inspector to reach tight areas, collect additional samples, and document findings. Lab analysis is a separate process and often adds several business days to the overall timeframe before you receive the full report.

Mold thrives where moisture lingers and air flow is poor. Common hotspots include bathroom walls, kitchen backsplashes, window sills, HVAC vents, fireplaces, crawl spaces, and enclosed attics. Check these areas regularly—especially after leaks or high‑humidity weather—to catch growth early and avoid costly repairs.

Unchecked mold can knock 20% to 37% off a home’s market value because buyers worry about hidden damage and health risks. Even after remediation, visible staining or a history of major moisture issues can still lower offers and prolong the time on the market. Addressing mold quickly protects both your property’s structural integrity and its resale appeal.
