"We were moving back into the area & hired Carpet Hut over the phone because of reviews on Angie's List. They were great about getting out to our house, measuring, etc. The carpet was all finished by the time we moved into our house. It is so nice to know that the carpet is brand new! Our experience was great & we would definitely recommend them!"

"Flawless. Jack, Kevan and team were courteous, professional, timely throughout and pricing was on point. Kevan was thorough with the initial assessment and scope of work to be completed. He provided valuable information as we coordinated with paint contractors. We had to bump up our timeline of putting our house on the market and Jack called me right away and shuffle things around so we could meet our deadline. The day of the job, we had a huge snow storm coming, but they rolled in with a team of 5+ guys and they had our old carpet hauled out and fresh new plushy carpet installed and out of there within 5 hours. Amazingly fast, efficient, kind, professional and great price! Would definitely use them again and highly recommend."

"I initially contacted Cindy and Maurice  (C & M) to install carpet we planned on purchasing from The Dump, but due to timing conflicts with that store, I decided not to go ahead with the purchase. Cindy offered to bring over samples of carpet that same day, which she did, and I ended up buying the carpet from her instead.  They came back the next day and installed it.  The quality is great, they were very punctual and professional, not to mention very nice people!!  I had a crib in the room, and they offered to install around it.  Overall, I was very satisfied with their service and definitely plan to use them again!"

"It was a filthy carpet in an upstairs duplex apartment that we own. We were not sure it would clean up. Dycarp cleaned it beautifully and it looks almost  brand new. Highly recommend them. <br />"

"I found Dry-N-Clean Carpet Cleaning through a search. The reviews that I read were all very good! My call was answered immediately and the company came out the same day! I was called 30 minutes prior to let me know they were on the way. When Matt arrived to service our carpets he was professional, knowledgeable, and kind. Our carpets look brand new again and I couldn’t be more pleased! Matt also left us with a bottle of premium spotter that we can use on spots ourselves! That was icing on the cake! I would highly recommend this company and I will definitely use them over and over in the future! Professional and courteous! They get the job done beautifully!"

"We purchased a 70’s home in Virginia Beach that was in rough shape after being a rental for several years. The floors were mostly carpeted and we wanted to switch over to wood. To us, this was a major investment and wanted the job done right. We went with A&B Flooring's competitive bid and their installation was a work of craftsmanship. They did a fantastic job and we now have the heirloom flooring we envisioned. Owner Ed Ambrose was quick to communicate (mostly text) response to any questions or concerns. He offered stain and wood options. We finally went with an unfinished, engineered maple which was sealed then coated with oil-based polyurethane. I love my floors! This is a top-notch outfit."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Norfolk, VA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
