Small jobs welcome

"Lyman was recommended to us by our friends, We Hired Lyman to get our house baby ready. He installed all the baby proofing hardware and gates, painted the nursery, fixed holes in the walls, tested for lead, and removed flaking paint and plaster. He showed up on time, work was done according to the agreed upon budget, and he has a great taste in music so we were all happy! Heâ ll be back to work on a few more projects."

"Tiver called the day before to remind me of the time they would arrive. They arrived promptly and began work immediately. They definitely knew what to do. They wore shoe covers in the house and took out all the screens for washing outside. One person worked inside. Two others were outside. All window coverings were realigned when they were done. Screens were all replaced as they were. They cleaned all the window sills. So happy to have clean sparkling windows and patio door. There were approximately 25 double hung windows and screens plus one sliding glass patio door. Money well spent. Will be using them again in the spring for power washing the house and gutter cleaning."

"Mr. Baker visited my house and provided a free estimate to replace the top exterior window pane of a double hung 6 light vinyl window. He explained in detail the scope of the work to be performed and the time it would take to complete it.The price quote was $235. I said I wanted to think about it and he said that was ok and I could call him later that evening if I wanted him to do the work the next day. I called that evening and he returned the following day to pick up the window. He returned it the same day in about 5 hours (as promised) and reinstalled the window. I was extremely pleased with the work and prompt service. Considering the door to door service, free onsite estimate, convenience, and quality of the work, I think the price was very good. It was also a real pleasure working with Ralph and I would definitely recommend his services to others. Thanks Ralph! <br />"

"We are very pleased with the total experience of Driveway Maintence Inc. The owner got back to me promptly the same day. He scheduled a day to come and give an estimate. We received the written estimate and hired him because of the great reviews on Angie's list. The owner and 2 others were here on time and finished in an hour or so. The cracks were all filled in and the Driveway was sealed. It looked great. We will difinately use them in the future when we need the driveway resealed again. Highly recommend them. I apologize if forgot the owners name but he was very professional, honest and fair."

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Norristown, PA

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
