"We contacted Stephen (who replied almost immediately to my voice mail) about removing several appliances (washer, dryer, fridge, computer monitor) as well as a couple of old doors and some concrete blocks. We had a tight time frame, because we were getting some new appliances the following week, but we wanted to be without the fridge for as little time as possible.  Stephen came out the same evening to give us a quote.  He was very nice to work with.  We were originally going to have the fridge brought downstairs to our laundry room to be a second fridge, and Stephen was willing to move it for us.  But he noticed that the doorway to the laundry room seemed small, and when we checked we found he was right - the fridge would not have fit!  So we asked him to just take it away.  We made an appointment for the following Tuesday afternoon at 1:00.  I had to change the time at the last minute due to another contractor (who was supposed to cap off the gas connection to the dryer) not showing up, but Stephen was completely flexible - he said he would come out the next morning.  He showed up exactly when he said he would, and it took him very little time to get everything on his truck.  He was quick, and left no mess.  We were very happy, and would gladly use him again."

"I am extremely pleased with Leon’s work. From the beginning he was very helpful in helping me understand the process. His estimate was very reasonable and his work was exceptional. He was very professional throughout the process and at the beginning and end of each day he informed me of the plan for that day and the next day. I would recommend him to anyone who needs concrete work."

"Outstanding all-around!  Owner was professional, responsive, caring, and interested.  Price was very fair.  Workers were neat, barely noticed they were there.  It has been nearly a year and we have not had a drop of water in our basement since.  Not bad for a basement that used to flood every big storm!  We even finished the basement because we finally feel we are safe from water invading again.  We would higly recommend Quality Dry Basements to anyone looking to have their basement waterproofed."

"Tim was wonderful, from quote to clean up. Hartland removed many branches and took down one very large oak tree (that had died). Their price was reasonable, their work excellent and their demeanor pleasant and professional. I would recommend them wholeheartedly"

"The bush was removed and they raked up and removed all the broken branches, etc.
The entire area was cleaned up nicely.
In the fall of 2011, I hired Mr. Home for the first time.  I was getting rainwater coming inside on the basement floor after heavy rains.
All along the edge of the interior hatchway door,  they jackhammered the floor to break up the concrete.
Then stones were laid, and fresh concrete mixed and poured, to fill hole again.  And a long grate, the length of the door, was
laid down at the edge of the wall to catch any water that tried to come in. Whatever water came in since then would have joined the sump pump system in the remainder of my basement that is directed outside.
I have not had a drop of water on my basement floor since they did that job.  The cost was $295.00 and so well worth it.
Both times I hired Mr. Home I was very pleased with the outcome.  I would definitely hire them again.

FAQs for concrete foundation installation projects in North Amherst, MA

A concrete footer is a relatively shallow column of concrete that sits below your foundation walls. Footers spread wider than the foundation, so they can support a higher amount of weight in critical spots, such as below walls. The exact dimensions of footers depend on the home, so larger structures need a larger footing.

To calculate footing size, you need to know the minimum width and depth for houses in your region. Multiplying the width by the linear footprint of the structure will give you the size in linear feet.

To convert linear feet into square feet, you can divide the width by 12. For example, an 18-inch footer is 1.5 square feet per linear foot. Multiply this number by the total in linear feet to get the answer in square feet.

Installing a pier and beam foundation costs $5 per square foot, or $8,000 to $15,000. This style is standard in homes built before the 1960s or those in flood-prone areas.

Concrete weight support ranges from 1,500 to 6,500 pounds per square inch, and footings need at least 3,500 to 4,500 pounds per square inch. Remember that your soil type, climate, and materials used will significantly affect how much weight your footings can hold, especially in certain areas.

It costs between $1,600 and $3,200 to pour a 20-by-20-foot concrete slab. These estimates are based on an average cost to pour a concrete slab of $4 to $8 per square foot. Be sure to discuss the specifics with a pro—they’ll give you an estimate of how much you can expect.

The cost to raise a house is between $3,200 and $10,000. This range refers to a form of repair that involves lifting the entire house to potentially remove the old foundation and build a new one or add to an existing one.
