Small jobs welcome

"Mike & his team were awesome to work with. They were quick efficient and cost effective. They surpassed my expectations and I’m happy I hired them to upgrade my electric service to 200 amp, install a larger panel and run a dedicated line to my garage for a new EV charger. Mike responded to my request within minutes and came out for the estimate a few days later. "

"GF Electric did a great job for us. They were able to give us a rough estimate from a video I sent them, saving the timeout would have taken to schedule a formal quotation. Giselle schedule us in on little notice, around the hoildays. Greg and team showed up on time and we talked thru the job. He clarified that one element we were considering wasn't needed for code compliance or safety and saved us some money that way. They finished the job quickly (small job, about 4 hours) and left everything orderly, clean and well labeled. Great work. I will definitely hire GF in the future. "

"Contacted Four Seasons to rod my sewer drain. They came out and stated that they would need to come back the next day with the rod and camera water jet to see what is clogging the line. In order to lock in the amount of almost $1500 and the time of 8am-1pm, I will need to make a down payment of half. I did half. The next day a guy from the company came with only the rod.and when I questioned him about the camera, he ignored me and continued his conversations via phone with others. Later he tells me after I asked again about the camera that I owed the other half $750. I did not pay and informed him that I didn?t get the services that I had made a deposit for in the beginning. He then started that the guys are busy and will be out on Monday 1/12/2026. He stated he went 55ft with rodding. No one came on 1/12/2026. On 1/12/2026 and 1/13/2026 I spoke to 3 managers and a supervisor?Brian, Jenny, and another person who didn?t know Jenny or Bryan and I was told that the rodding was $740 and"

"SSE installed outdoor electric to my shed and new swimming pool. They also wired and connected a pool heater. The quality of work exceeded expectations and more important the customer service and flexibility was great. The permit was delayed and I had to reschedule install dates multiple times The owner of SSE understood and repeatedly told me he â had my backâ and would make sure he could meet the date and permit / city requirements. The job was done on time and within budget. SSE has a new customer for life. I have already scheduled my next job with the company."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in North Aurora, IL

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
