"The owner answered my call and was polite, knowledgable and friendly as I told him I had a leak from my upstairs bathroom. However, the plumber who actually came to my home was not the owner and was a bit brash, although seemingly knowledgable, so I initially didn't mind. I simply needed a new wax ring, he said, which made sense. After telling me how the one I had on my toilet was a more expensive kind that always leaked and how the cheap $1 ones work the best and only take ten minutes to install, when I then asked how much this would cost, he changed his tune and told me this was a near $200 job that he was actually giving me a deal on for less. It just felt like I got bamboozled. Then after this repair, he said he checked the toilet tank and said he found another problem (one I didn't know about), and that he would need to come back the next day because he didn't have the part on hand. All-in-all, what was supposed to be a ten minute job with a $1 part ended up being $214. I didn't trust what he was saying, but felt he did have the knowledge to repair toilets and I didn't have a choice with my guests arriving and the incredibly busy schedule I had that day. I just felt like he was going to get my bill over $200 no matter what. I called to talk with the owner on three occasions (and waited two months here to make this review because I wanted to be absolutely fair and talk with the owner first), but he simply won't call me back- and if he has, he didn't use the business number and hasn't left a message so I'd know. Needless to say I won't be using this company again, but I not because they don't know how to repair, but because of poor customer service. Customers want to know not only what's going on and how much it's going to cost (not variable pricing- it is either a specific price or not!) or otherwise they feel you're taking advantage of them. When you say how simple and fast a repair is and how inexpensive the parts are, then how can you justify over $200 for less than an hour's worth of time together both days (the second day only because he didn't have the part on hand), including the in and out and all the talking? Over $200 an hour is expensive for suburban Summerville in my opinion."

"Peeples plumbing was so easy to work with they were able to accommodate my schedule and work around a late rescheduling. The tech that came out to install my gas grill was very knowledgeable and instructed me how to swap out the propane orfices for the new gas orfices. He was also very neat and careful not to damage my newly laid sod. I would definitely recommend using Peeples Plumbing and I will call them again for any plumbing jobs I may have in the future."

"Our technicians, Jacob Flowers and Tanner Watson, were timely, courteous and thorough despite working on. a holiday weekend day. They explained in detail how the installation would proceed and remained engaged throughout the process. They completed the install, briefed us on system operation and cleaned up before departing. We would definitely recommend this company and these two gentlemen for their expertise and excellent service!"

"Outstanding company! Was getting quotes for some excavation services I needed to run and install water and sewer lines at a property going through a total rehab. I contacted Kings of Hope and spoke with Josh, he was friendly prompt and very knowledgeable. Scheduled a time to meet for an estimate he was on time! Which is a big plus considering I was on a strict time crunch for completion of project at hand. Price was great service was even better. Josh at Kings of Hope is very thorough, knowledgeable, and has an attention to detail like no other. We have used Kings of Hope on various projects now! Demo, water and sewer installs, tree removal, land clearing, rip rap installs, sea wall installs, driveway installs. Will continue to use Kings of Hope due to the professionalism and timely manner in which projects are completed. Absolutely the best in Charleston 5 ð"

"We called Suburban Plumbing as they were highly recommended by a neighbor that has used them for the past 20 years. Charles answered the call and came to help us the same morning. We needed a garbage disposal replaced and he provided us with several options. He even drove to James Island (we are in N. Mt. Pleasant) to get the one we selected! He was prompt, courteous, professional and did a great job with the install. We paid a competitive rate and will certainly use them again if a plumbing need arises."

FAQs for sewer main install, replace or repair projects in North Charleston, SC

Sewer line replacement costs range from $50 to $250 per linear foot. Your replacement costs rise or fall based on material quality, installation complexity, and the specialized equipment crews need for excavation. Deeper lines cost more to access, and choosing budget-friendly PVC piping rather than premium copper also shifts the final price.

A sewer sleeve repairs cracked or damaged sections of a sewer pipe without the need for excavation. In this process, technicians insert a cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) liner, saturated with epoxy, to seal defects and restore the pipe’s integrity. This approach protects your yard, trims repair time, and adds years to your sewer system’s life—all while delivering reliable results.

Newer homes use durable PVC and ABS piping that offer smooth interiors and effective clog prevention at an affordable cost. Older homes use materials such as copper, Orangeburg, clay, cast iron, or lead, which require a licensed plumber’s inspection to confirm safety and performance. This clear distinction impacts maintenance and overall system reliability.

Red flags include persistent clogs, recurring sewage backups, and unexplained spikes in utility bills. Strong sulfur odors, bubbling drains, and visible sewage in the yard serve as unmistakable warning signs. These symptoms demand immediate professional inspection and repair to prevent further property damage and health hazards, ensuring the system operates safely.

All sewer line projects require permits because strict sanitary and biohazard regulations mandate regulatory approval. Homeowners must secure permits, incurring a specific permit fee of $200 in addition to contractor costs. A licensed professional or local building department manages the permitting process, ensuring the work complies with all legal requirements before the project begins.

A clogged sewer line is not covered by standard homeowner’s insurance policies because these policies exclude damage from regular wear, tear, and neglect. In cases of accidental damage—such as when tree roots block the line—certain policies provide coverage. Homeowners must review their policy details or consult with their insurance provider to confirm the coverage terms.
